IMCA Modifieds join Saturday shows at Gator Motorplex; Texas venue is home track for Southern United Sprints

WILLIS, Texas – Newly-sanctioned Gator Motorplex will be both a weekly home to IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and the home track for IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars following the Southern United Sprint Series beginning this season. Opening night at the ¼-mile dirt oval is March 7. Veteran promoter Randy Waller anticipates the Modifieds will duplicate the success the Sprint Series has enjoyed during its three years with RaceSaver. “Modifieds in this area have struggled. We’ve tried this and we’ve tried that,” Waller said. “I decided we had to do something to bring them back to the area and contacted IMCA.” Gator will be part of IMCA’s Razor Chassis South Central Region for Modifieds. Afco awards for IMCA Hobby Stocks are new for 2015

BOONVILLE, Ind. – Afco contingency awards are new this season for a sixth IMCA division. Top three eligible drivers in both Northern and Southern regions for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks receive each product certificates valued at $125, $75 and $50, respectively. “Drivers in all divisions are having tremendous success with Afco shocks and springs and we want to make sure we target them with value-based incentives that recognizes that success,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “We’ve been able to do that for 22 years working alongside Afco and we plan on the continuance of that common goal.” The Boonville, Ind., manufacturer has also renewed awards for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Late Models, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. A perfect 10: Schedule announced for IMCA Haw­keye Dirt Tour

VINTON, Iowa – The Hawkeye Dirt Tour takes its first green flag Tuesday, May 12 at the home track of IMCA Modifieds, Benton County Speedway in Vinton. In all, 10 dates are on the schedule for the sixth annual series. Each feature pays a minimum of $1,000 to win and will be a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot-qualifying event. The champion earns a $600 share of the tour’s $3,000 point fund, plus bonus points applicable toward national and regional standings. I-35 Speedway at Mason City hosts the Memorial Day special on May 25. Touring IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds will be paired with the Deery Brothers Summer Series on June 9 at Jack­son County Speedway in Maquoketa. Kansas clippers Gemmill, Sellard score IMCA Modified feature wins at Red River Invasion

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (Feb. 13-14) – Two drivers from Kansas traveled to Red River Speedway for their first IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature wins of the season. Brendon Gemmill topped Friday’s opening night Red River Invasion feature for his career 39th victory in the division. Clay Sellard showed more of the speed that netted him Jet Racing Central Region rookie of the year honors in winning the Saturday show. Tommy Fain and another sophomore speedster, 2014 national ROY Dean Abbey, rounded out Friday’s top three. William Gould, the 2013 national champ and two-time defending Razor Chassis Southern Region king, was runner-up and Gemmill ran third on Saturday. LEBANON, Tenn. – QuickCar Racing Products returns as an IMCA sponsor this season, with new awards for national champions in all sanctioned divisions. VINTON, Iowa – Three marketing partners already very familiar to drivers in all sanctioned divisions have new roles in IMCA’s national decal program this season. EngineQuest becomes title sponsor of both Northern and Southern regions for IMCA Stock Cars. Sweet Manufacturing joins the national program for Modifieds while MSD is new for the Stock Car national program. Karl Chevrolet and Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center return as title sponsor of Northern SportMod and Southern SportMod divisions; this season will be the second when drivers in both divisions are required to display Karl and SDPC decals on their race cars. ABILENE, Texas – Four IMCA divisions start the 2015 season with the traditional Ice Breaker special at Abilene Speedway Fri­day, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20-22. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $700 to win each night, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods for $600, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $400 and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $250. All applicable IMCA points, including track points, will be awarded for each draw/redraw show. Home region points will be awarded to Modified, Stock and Hobby drivers; Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods can race but not for points. Smith returns to winning ways at Cocopah with IMCA Modified career victory no. 98

SOMERTON, Ariz. (Feb. 13-14) – A week after uncharacteristic Winter Nationals finishes, Dylan Smith got back in his groove at Cocopah Speedway. Smith outran R.C. Whitwell for the $3,000 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers in the fourth and final Winter Nationals show Saturday at Somerton. The front pair had run door-to-door in the final turn before Smith pulled ahead of Whitwell, the $1,000 Friday night winner. Sixty Modifieds vied on opening night, 57 in the finale. Smith’s victory landed the fleet Nebraskan on the ballot for September’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational and was his IMCA career 98th win.
