It’s Logue by a nose, David Smith also wins first of season at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (July 15, 2023) – Boone Speedway held its weekly racing series on Saturday night, even after the area had nearly even inches of rain earlier in the week and the track was covered with water.  The drainage system and the great prep crew had the track in perfect racing condition that saw multi-lane racing from the 158 cars checked into the pits. There was only one repeat winner, that being Matt Avila in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. First-time wins this regular season went to Johnathon Logue, in a near photo finish in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, David Smith in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Eric Knutson in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Cory Sonner in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Mod Lites kicked off feature racing. David Bailey had a big lead in the early going but Josh May reeled him in and, with just three laps remaining, was on his tail. That’s when disaster struck for the two drivers as a close racing [Read More]

Brown, Paris score big wins at CJ Speedway

By Jerry Mackey  COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa (July 14, 2023) – Racing resumed at CJ Speedway, following two consecutive nights of rainouts of regular IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing programs. Rain threatened to spoil Friday night as well but went on as scheduled and Patriot Fireworks provided a very nice display of pyrotechnics before rain moved in.  The headliner of the night was the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event. Brandon Banks debuted his new car and the new car is going to be a very fast machine. Banks shot to the front from his fourth row start and built a comfortable lead only to have ninth starting Jarrett Brown chase down Banks and make what proved to be the winning pass with four laps remaining. Brown has been the man to beat all year and Friday night was no exception. Banks ran second ahead of Kurt Kile.  A win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods would be very big for Shane Paris, currently fifth in national standings for the division, and that was exactly [Read More]

By Edward Anschutz SEYMOUR, Wis. (July 14, 2023) – Jared Siefert scored big Friday night, winning the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature and $1,000 at Outagamie Speedway. Jeff Kropp paced the opening laps before coming under attack by former IMCA Modified national champion Siefert, who took his Sniper Speed Chassis to the top groove and raced around Kropp for the lead on lap four. Tyler Wilson came to call, breaking into the runner-up position. Wilson began to dog Siefert just past the midway point. A caution on 12 bunched the field as Siefert led. That’s when it began to rain, forcing officials to cancel the remainder of the program. Siefert, already guaranteed a starting spot in the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational for his $5,000 win at the Jackson Motorplex Stock Car Challenge in May, scored a clean sweep on the night and a pocket full of cash for his efforts.
