Knoxville Raceway hosts IMCA’s July 17 Har­ris Clash special

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 14) – IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods return to Knoxville Raceway for the 23rd annual Harris Clash on Thursday, July 17. Top prize for the Modifieds is $2,000 while Northern SportMods run for $1,000 to win. The Clash is also the fifth event on the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour schedule. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, home region, Allstar Performance State and special series points will be awarded for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational bal­lot qualifier. Twenty-four cars will qualify for the Modified main event; one past champion’s provisional will be given to the most recent winner who is licensed and competing in weekly IMCA events but who does not qualify. $2,500 is top prize at Billings’ July 19 Modified Mayhem

BILLINGS, Mont. (July 14) – Billings Motorsports Park hosts its rescheduled Modified Mayhem this Saturday, July 19, with a $2,500 top prize going to the winner of the headline event. The inaugural special for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds pays a minimum of $100 to start, is sponsored by Sorenson Racing of Billings and is a qualifying event for the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western or Belleville Motorsports North Central regional, Allstar Performance State and local track points will be awarded. Non-qualifiers taking at least one green flag during the evening get $50 tow money. There is no entry fee; pit passes are $25. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors 65 and over, juniors ages 12-17 and military personnel with ID, $3 for kids ages 7-11 and free for six and under. Harris sprints to fourth Virginia Series feature win

By Jim Haines SHENANDOAH, Va. (July 12) – Jerald Harris turned a good run in to a great finish as storms danced all around Shenandoah Speedway Saturday night. Harris won his fourth Virginia Sprint Series feature of the season. Three of those IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Car victories have now come on the Shenandoah asphalt oval. Chris Ware and Charlie Ware paced the field to the green before Charlie Ware took off and brought Tony Harris along. Harris got by on lap four and did his best to run away from the rest of the field but Tom Humphries, Harris and French Grimes were on a march to the front. The battle for second between Humphries and Harris ended right after halfway when Humphries rolled into the infield. With five to go, Harris had a great run go bad as his right rear tire was wearing out and starting to vibrate. With just four to go he had to slow to make it to the end. LAMAR, Colo. (July 15) – Two of motorsports most popular drivers join the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified field for four Precise Racing Products BST Series dates. Ken Schrader suits up for the Friday, July 18 show at Lamar Speedway. He’ll be joined by Kenny Wallace for NASCAR Drivers Night at the Fair at El Paso County Speedway in Calhan on Saturday, July 19; at Thomas County Speedway in Colby, Kan., on Sunday, July 20; and at Phillips County Raceway in Holyoke on Monday, July 21. Van Genderen gets first XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour win at Lee County

DONNELLSON, Iowa (July 14) – Mike Van Genderen was consistent in finishing second in 2013 point standings for the XSAN Hawkeye Dirt Tour. His IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified series-first victory will go a long way toward winning the 2014 tour championship. Van Genderen emerged as the new point leader Monday night following a back-and-forth battle at Lee County Speedway with Jesse Sobbing. The two swapped the front spot as the 30-lapper wound down and were virtually side-by-side com­ing to the white flag. Sobbing scraped the frontstretch wall before Van Genderen surged ahead to take the $1,000 checkers by a car length. Pole starter Hunter Marriott led the first nine laps before giving way to Sobbing. The only caution of the night waved on lap 18; Van Genderen was scored first across the stripe on lap 20 but Sobbing was back in front the next time around. Dodge City Raceway Park Stampede pays $1,200 to IMCA Modified winner

DODGE CITY, Kan. – The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified driver winning Dodge City Raceway Park’s Saturday, July 19 Stam­pede special earns $1,200 and one of the first berths on the 2015 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. The feature pays a minimum of $150 to start and IMCA Speedway Mo­tors Weekly Racing National, Jet Racing Central Region, All­star Performance State and local track points will be awarded. JAMESTOWN, N.D. (July 11) – Two first-time feature winners took their turns in victory lane following the sixth and final night for the Kupper Chevrolet Dakota Classic Tour. With a track record 80 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds at Jamestown Speedway Friday, Justin O’Brien took the lead from Steven Pfeifer late in the 30-lapper and outran Justen Yeager for the $2,000 checkers. “This was absolutely the biggest win of my career,” said O’Brien, newly qualified for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “The best of the best in IMCA were here.” Jeff Taylor clinched the series title with his third-place finish, still in a borrowed car. Werkmeister sweeps Lincoln County Stock Car features

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (July 12) – Picking up a pair of Saturday feature victories in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division at Lincoln County Raceway was Casey Werkmeister. He was joined in the winner’s circle by Zach Schultz, Kyle Bond and Charlie Blowers. On top of his game, Werkmeister swept top honors in the Stock Car features as two were run this evening. Werkmeister took the lead in the initial feature near the halfway point and never looked back. In the finale, Werkmeister droved to the lead on lap 10 from his fifth row starting position to capture the checkered flag. Schultz started on the pole and led from green to checkered in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod feature. Thornton stays hot at Canyon’s Mid-Summer Classic

(July 12) – Ricky Thornton, Jr., continues to hold the hottest of Canyon Speedway Park hands as he raced to yet another IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature victory in Saturday’s Mid-Summer Classic atop the 1/3-mile clay oval. Thornton raced from the front row outside to his ninth win in 11 CSP events thus far in 2014, taking the checkered flag ahead of Jason Noll with Brian Schultz, Steve Stultz and Chaz Baca, Jr., in the top five. Joe Wampole advanced the most positions in the main event by racing from 19th to seventh.
