Deery Series opens this weekend at Davenport, West Liberty

DAVENPORT, Iowa – A pair of $3,000 to win features and forecasts for much more spring-like weather are in the works this weekend for the Deery Brothers Summer Series. The 28th annual IMCA Late Model tour opens Friday, April 11 at Davenport Speedway. Night two of the twinbill is Saturday, April 12 at West Liberty Raceway. Both main events pay a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. at Davenport. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7 p.m., with IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, street stocks and 4-stocks completing the program. Opening night races rescheduled due to postponed Frostbusters

VINTON, Iowa (April 8) – Regular season openers at four IMCA sanctioned tracks have been rescheduled due to postponed Frostbuster specials. First local point races of the season at Southern Iowa Speedway will be Wednesday, April 16. Marshalltown Speedway opens on Friday, April 18, Boone Speedway on Saturday, April 19 and Benton County Speedway in Vinton on Sunday, April 20. Southern Iowa Speedway hosts a Wednesday, April 9 practice preceding the Frostbusters. That session starts at 7 p.m. and pit passes are $15. Dates for the Frostbusters are Thursday, April 10 at Oskaloosa; Friday, April 11 at Mar­shalltown; Saturday, April 12 at Boone; and Sunday, April 13 at Vinton. Desert Thunder hosts April 11-12 Border States Racing Series doubleheader

PRICE, Utah – Desert Thunder Raceway hosts the inaugural doubleheader for the Border States Racing Series this Friday and Saturday, April 11-12. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $500 to win and IMCA SportMods for $200 to win both nights. All applicable IMCA points will be awarded. Pit gates at Price open at 2 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 4 p.m. both days. Hot laps follow the 5 p.m. drivers’ meeting with racing at 6 p.m. Spectator admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for kids ages six through 12 and free for five and under. Car and driver is $55 for Modifieds and $40 for SportMods; pit passes are $25 for one day or $35 for a two-day pass. Transponders are required and can be rented for $5 a night. Also on the Friday and Saturday programs are super stocks, hobby stocks and quarter midgets. Ten dates, at tracks in Utah, New Mexico and Colorado, comprise the Border States Racing Series.

JEFFERSON, S.D. (April 7) – Raceway Park has postponed its season-opening Double Down Spring Nationals to Friday and Saturday, April 18 and 19. Originally scheduled for this weekend, the WinnaVegas Casino Resort-sponsored special boasts a $1,000 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and $500 to win features for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Com­pacts all chase $500 top checks on Friday. HOLYOKE, Colo. (April 7) – Three Blood, Sweat and Tears series, including the inaugural tour for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods, see their first action of the new race season during April 12 and 13 Ice Breaker events at Phillips County Raceway and I-76 Speedway. The Precise Racing Series for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Addiction Chassis Series for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Leary Racing Products Series for the Northern SportMods travel to Holyoke on Saturday and to Fort Morgan on Sunday. Stacey Mills shortens to-do list with Modified feature win at Algona North Iowa Frostbuster

ALGONA, Iowa (April 5) – Stacey Mills’ racing to-do list got shorter Saturday night. Mills held off Mike Jergens to prevail in a green, white, checkered finish and earn $1,000 for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature win at Algona Raceway’s season-opening North Iowa Frostbuster. “This is my first $1,000 win. I’ve been trying to do that for a long time,” the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot candidate said. “It was a good race. We had a good night. Denison Deery canceled, IMCA Late Model tour opens at Davenport April 11

DENISON, Iowa (April 3) – The Saturday, April 5 Deery Brothers Summer Series event at Craw­ford County Speedway in Denison has been canceled. What was to have been opening night for the 28th annual tour for IMCA Late Models became a casualty of a forecast that can best be summarized as cold and rainy with the potential for freezing precipitation as well.
