Deery Series destined for Denison in 2014 opener

DENISON, Iowa (March 26) – The Deery Brothers Summer Series ends an absence of nearly 20 years when the 2014 tour opens on Saturday, April 5 at Crawford County Speedway. The IMCA Late Model series made its one and only appearance at Denison back on July 28 of 1994. Late Models will be paired with IMCA Eagle Motorsports RaceSaver Sprint Cars for their much-anticipated return engagement. The main event pays $3,000 to win and a minimum of $300 to start. Pit gates open at 1 p.m., the grandstand opens at 3 p.m., hot laps are at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 5 p.m. Spectator admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and free for kids ages five and under. Five divisions featured at RPM’s Sunflower Classic

HAYS, Kan. (March 24) – Five IMCA divisions are on the program for both nights of RPM Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, March 28-29 Sunflower Classic. IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds run for $1,000 to win in 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase $750 checks in Dirt Track Central Jax Sports Grille Great Plains Series shows. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods vie for $500 top prizes while Mach-1 Sport Compacts run for $200 to win. Complete programs are scheduled and IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Allstar Performance state, but no local track points will be awarded both nights. AMES, Iowa (March 24) – Two drivers receive awards from Z4 Products at each Deery Brothers Summer Series event this season. Both the pole starter and the Sunoco Race Fuels drawing winner for all IMCA Late Model tour features get bottles of leak sealer and cooling conditioner from the fourth-year sponsor from Ames, Iowa. The 28th annual series opens Saturday, April 5 at Crawford County Speedway. The finale is Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4 at West Liberty Raceway. Taylor brings broom to Batesville and sweeps Mid-America Modified Championship features

BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 20-22) – Jeff Taylor’s North Dakota car is pretty fast in Arkansas, too. Taylor swept the three Mid-America Modified Championship features at Batesville Motor Speedway, earning $1,500 for each of his Thursday, Friday and Saturday IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature wins. “I’ve never won three nights in a row. I’ve won twice before but this is the first time I’ve ever done that,” said Taylor, new to the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. “I had a really good race car all three nights and a lot of help getting it that way. Summit returns to national decal program for IMCA Modifieds, gives awards in eight divisions

TALLMADGE, Ohio (March 22) – Summit Racing Equipment returns to the national decal program for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds this season, its fifth as a marketing partner with the sanctioning body. Drivers in the division are required to display two Summit decals on their race car and send a picture of their car proving decal placement to the IMCA home office by Aug. 1 to be eligible for regional point fund shares. EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (March 22) – Every driver starting on the pole in a Deery Brothers Summer Series feature this season will be a guaranteed award winner. Opening night honors at Beatrice belong to Grabouski

BEATRICE, Neb. (March 21) – A familiar face was back in victory lane following the headline event on opening night of Spring Nationals at Beatrice Speedway. Jordan Grabouski earned $2,000 for the Friday night IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified checkers. The victory was his career fifth at Spring Nationals and IMCA 96th. “I found the middle to the top of the track, kept the car straight and kept my momentum up,” said Grabouski,” who had started sixth and passed David Murray Jr. for the lead on the eighth of 30 laps. “This is a new car and I was fortunate to have a really fast ride right out of the box. Frontrunners were mixed up with lapped traffic before a caution with nine to go. COOPERSVILLE, Mich. (March 21) – Fifth-year sponsor Integra Racing Shocks has renewed one of the most unique awards program in IMCA. BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 20) – There was no shortage of out-of-state talent on the track but opening night honors at Batesville Motor Speedway’s Mid-America Modified Championship belonged to a driver from fairly close to home. Jeff Taylor led the last four laps in topping the Thursday feature for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds. The $1,500 victory put him on the ballot for this September’s Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. He’d started third in the 25-lapper, fell back to fifth and then had to pass Jacob Murray, Spencer Wilson and Jared Siefert before setting his sights on Ken Schrader. Schrader was making his first IMCA start of the season. The front two were running with lapped cars when they got together in an incident that saw Taylor emerge with the lead.
