West Coast Super Stocks new at Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – IMCA and the West Coast Super Stocks will be continue their association in 2014. Bakersfield Speedway will joining Santa Maria Speedway in running the division. “I am looking forward in moving the West Coast Super Stocks to IMCA. Turnbull, Struckhoff win drawings to attend Bob Harris Race Tech Info chassis schools

ROLAND, Iowa – Aaron Turnbull and Cory Struckhoff won drawings to attend upcoming Bob Harris Enterprises Race Tech Info dirt chassis schools. Winners of 30 designated IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified specials and 15 Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod specials in 2013 were eligible. Turnbull, from Estevan, Sask., was the Modified winner at Estevan Motor Speedway’s Fast 40. Struckhoff is from Kensington, Kan., and won the fair special at WaKeeney Speedway. Sunday shows at Chowchilla Speedway to feature IMCA Modifieds, Northern SportMods

CHOWCHILLA, Calif. (Jan. 13) – Two IMCA divisions made impressive season debuts at Chowchilla Speedway on Jan. 5. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods will see action on the 1/3-mile semi-banked oval on Feb. 23 before the first local track points are awarded on March 9. “We had a terrific turnout with good car counts in both sanctioned divisions on opening night. We’ll race Sundays through Sept. 21,” noted promoter Jack Stanford. “There are Friday tracks within an hour of us and Saturday tracks half an hour away. YUMA, Ariz. – Cocopah Speedway concludes its Winter Nationals Weekend with a $3,000 to win, minimum $300 to start main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds on Saturday, Feb. 15. A trio of $1,000 to win, minimum $100 to start events for Modifieds are on the docket Friday and Saturday, Feb. 7-8, and Friday, Feb. 14. Funeral services are Jan. 13 for Ernie Derr

KEOKUK, Iowa – Funeral services for IMCA legend Ernie Derr , 92, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center, 917 Blondeau Street in Keokuk. Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 12, from noon to 5 p.m., with the family meeting friends from 1-5 p.m. Burial with full military rites at Keokuk National Cemetery will immediately follow funeral services. Derr, of Keokuk, died Wednesday, Jan. 8. IMCA’s all-time leader with a dozen national championships, he reigned over point standings for what is now the Late Model division in 1953, 1959-1962 and 1965-71. Known as a member of the famed Keokuk Gang and as a master mechanic, Derr was deservedly inducted into numerous halls of fame. His IMCA record of 328 sanctioned feature wins stood until 2005. VINTON, Iowa – Two BSB Manufacturing-made sliders have been approved for use in sanctioned IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified events, beginning with the 2014 race season.
