Sessums Opens Kennedale Season with Sprint Car Victory

By Ben Deatherage KENNEDALE, Texas (Mar. 1, 2025) — Jeb Sessums kicked off the 2025 Kennedale Speedway Park campaign with a commanding victory in the $1,000-to-win RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main event. Driving for Taco Casa Racing, the Burleson, Texas racer led all 25 laps, holding off some strong challenges from his teammate, John Carney II. Sessums wasted no time taking the lead at the drop of the green, with 2015 RaceSaver Nationals winner Carney staying close behind. As the leaders hit lapped traffic just before the halfway mark, Sessums expertly navigated the high side while keeping Carney at bay. Carney eventually made a bold move in turn three, diving to the inside, but Sessums held firm on the cushion and maintained his advantage. A caution soon after reset the field, creating a crucial restart. When racing resumed, Carney bobbled, briefly losing second place to 2019 Southern United Sprint champion Tyler Harris. As they battled, Sessums pulled away and cruised to his first victory of 2025. Carney recovered to finish second, while Harris rounded out the [Read More]

Babbitt Repeats at 105 Speedway’s Texas Grand

By Ben Deatherage CLEVELAND, Texas (Mar. 1, 2025) — Corey Babbitt took care of business in his home state of Texas as he would lead all 30 laps of the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature at 105 Speedway for the 2025 Texas Grand.  It is the second straight year that he has won the event and he had to set a quick pace and even hold off a late challenge to score the $1,000 payday. The main event kicked off with Babbitt immediately pouncing to the point.  Setting a quick pace, the New Caney, Texas driver ended up having to deal with a trio of cautions in the first third of the race that disallowed him from getting too far away. Taylor Hunter created some buzz around this time.  After destroying a car the night before and at the controls of Johnny Brown Jr.’s back up car, Hunter would put on show on the top side of the ¼-mile oval and gained wholesale positions.  In fact, he would pole vault himself so far in [Read More]

(Mar. 1, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods ran a doubleheader weekend at Mohave Valley Raceway, with Payce Herrera claiming victory in Saturday’s 25-lap feature. The race began with Kohlzin Park setting the early pace before spinning in turn four on lap nine, handing the lead to Jake Snowden, who was battling Jerry Walton before the stoppage. Walton survived multiple restarts, including a one-lap dash to the finish, and crossed the line first. Joiner Dominates Modified Finale at Clash On The Coast, Becerra Wins Second Title

By Ben Deatherage LOXLEY, Ala. (Mar. 1, 2025) — Joseph Joiner delivered a commanding performance in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified finale of the 2025 IMCA TV Clash On The Coast at Deep South Speedway. The Milton, Florida driver, piloting the Andrews Autosport entry for car owner Spencer Andrews, led all 25 laps to secure his second career Clash victory and first since 2023. Joiner wasted no time asserting control, blasting into the lead in turn one and quickly building a massive advantage. His blistering pace carried him into lapped traffic by lap 16, but he navigated through the back markers effortlessly. A late caution tightened the field, setting up a restart where Matthew Triefenbach, a current U.S. Air Force airman, battled for second against Dylan Thornton, the reigning Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s IMCA Modified and Sunoco IMCA Late Model champion. Horejsi Holds Off Charging Murty for Clash On The Coast Glory

By Ben Deatherage LOXLEY, Ala. (Feb. 28, 2025) — After near-misses last year and again on Monday, Jim Horejsi finally broke through at the IMCA TV Clash On The Coast, leading all 25 laps of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Deep South Speedway. The Marshall, Minnesota driver held off a late charge from defending series champion Dallon Murty to claim his first Clash victory. Horejsi jumped to the lead in his Pearl Harbor tribute Salute To Veterans Tour wrap at the start while Shelby Williams of Texas and Wisconsin’s Rod Snellenberger battled for second. This allowed Horejsi to build an early advantage. Williams, the 2025 IMCA TV Winter Nationals champion, saw his night cut short due to mechanical trouble, bringing out the first caution. That set up a fierce battle for second between Snellenberger, the 2008 National Stock Car champion, and Iowa’s Gage Neal, again giving Horejsi room to pull away. A series of additional cautions kept the pressure on Horejsi, with the final yellow waving with three laps to go. Before the stoppage, [Read More]
