Johnson collects Late Model win at Off Road Speedway

(June 29) – Jim Johnson raced to his second IMCA Late Model victory in as many nights, coming out ahead of a four-car battle for the lead at Off Road Speedway. Travis Dickes, Ben Sukup and Chris Johnson battled Johnson most of the race. Ultimately, Sukup was able to pass Dickes for second place with two laps remaining, but fell just short of catching Jim Johnson at the finish line. Also the Friday winner at Boone County Raceway, Johnson is hoping the two wins might be a turning point. “It’s been a rough start, with a new car and new chassis. Winebarger ties Wild West Shootout record with fourth win of season

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (June 28) – Collen Winebarger put his name in the Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout record book Friday night. Winebarger’s fourth series win of 2019 came at Willamette Speedway and matched the record set by Brian Poppa (2011) and first equaled by Kellen Chadwick (2016). Pole starter Winebarger stayed out front and out of trouble from the get-go Friday despite five stoppages. He was pressured late by Jesse Williamson, who bicycled hard in the first set of turns and eventually Jesse pulled off the track. Chadwick, Justin Duty, Grey Ferrando and Matt Jenner made up the rest of the final five. Lebanon saw the biggest car count of the week with 48 drivers assembled in the pits representing five states and British Columbia. Sellard rules IMCA Modifieds at Dodge City

(June 29) – Clay Sellard needed less than two laps to race into the lead from eighth and led the rest of the way in the 20-lapper for IMCA Modified to become the fifth different winner in as many races Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park. Sellard stretched his lead out to a full half-lap by the time a late caution flew to set up a four-lap dash to the stripe the Mid-Season Championship Night show. Sellard took off once again to secure the victory ahead of Tom Beavers, who made his way past Kevin Gray at the midway point to post runner-up honors. Beavers finished just ahead of his son Kale, with William Nusser and Gray rounding out the top five. Madden scores third Stuart win of season

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 26) – Corey Madden raced his way to victory lane at Stuart Speedway for the third time this season, topping Wednesday’s IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main event. Nick Foster and Chuck Madden Jr. were on the front row for the start and Madden Jr. led rookie Miciah Hidlebaugh and Foster over the first two laps, with Corey Madden getting to third on lap three. Two more circuits saw Madden get to second as Madden Jr. continued to lead. By lap six, the brothers were side-by-side and Corey was able to get the advantage on lap eight. Confident in lapped traffic, Callahan collects Benton County Fair Deery Series feature win

VINTON, Iowa (June 27) – Lapped cars didn’t bother Joel Callahan. He figured if he had to get past them, so did everybody chasing him for the lead in Thursday’s Deery Brothers Summer Series main event at Benton County Speedway. Callahan made the most of four restarts before midway of the 40-lap IMCA Late Model tour feature after starting ninth, reeling in Jeff Aikey and leading the last 16 circuits for the $2,000 victory, his Deery career sixth and first since July 7 of 2016. “It’s always good to win. We had a good car and the cautions helped. It seemed like every caution I was able to gain a couple spots,” Callahan said following the county fair show victory. STUART, Iowa – The top prize for IMCA Modifieds will be $2,000 while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars race for $1,000 to win at Stuart Speedway’s Tuesday, July 2 Ron Little Memorial. The fourth installment of the Arnold Motor Supply Midwest Madness Tour is a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event for the Modifieds. The Modified main event pays a minimum of $150 to start, the Stock Car feature a minimum of $125. Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout cut short due to curfew

By Ben Deatherage BANKS, Ore. – The track crew of Sunset Speedway Park battled the weather Wednesday, June night, but the curfew came before the scheduled Wild West IMCA Modified Shootout main event could be started. The feature will be held at the end of the night at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon on Friday, June 28. There will be no racing tonight (Thursday) but Willamette Speedway will host a driver appreciation party, presented by FinishLine Graphics. Thirty-nine cars made the journey to Sunset Speedway Park, representing Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada and North Dakota as well as British Columbia The starting lineup for Friday’s makeup event will be: Row 1, Collen Winebarger; Travis Peery.
