Plemons banks $1,100 for career first URSS victory

(June 8) – Todd Plemons took the lead at the start and held off Zach Blurton to claim his first-career Lucas Oil POWRi United Rebel Sprint Series presented by Mel Hambelton Ford Racing 305-ci sprint car feature Saturday at El Paso County Raceway. Tracey Hill and Plemons started on the front row for the 20-lap IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature finale with Hill taking the lead as the initial green flag fell. The race quickly went caution when two cars got together entering turns one and two. On the complete restart, Plemons took the lead while Zach Blurton charged from his fourth starting position to take the runner-up position as Hill fell back to third. Norris is quickest to Springfield checkers

(June 8) – Searcy, Ark., resident and current Batesville Motor Speedway IMCA Modified point leader Clay Norris made his first-ever visit to The “Quick-Quarter” of the Springfield Raceway Saturday night. The trip paid off as Norris pulled off a last-lap, last-turn pass from race and Bad Boy Mower IMCA Modified point leader James Thompson to become the fifth different feature winner out of seven features on Indigo Casino Raining Money Night at the races before the packed grandstands. An early restart found Thompson and points runner-up Jody Tillman bringing the pack to the green. Derek Watson was quick to join the top duo as Norris was searching to see where his car was working best. Vance, Sautter top Tri-City IMCA Modified features

(June 7) – Craig Vance won the makeup feature and Don Sautter raced to his first win on dirt Friday at Tri-City Motor Speedway, The Allstar Performance IMCA Modified drivers had some extra work to take care of at the June 7 show at Auburn, first of all completing the feature rained out from the previous week. Vance slipped into the lead early and never looked back as he started the evening picking up his first feature win of 2019. He also dominated the field in his heat race and looked like he had a legitimate chance to sweep all of his races that night. However, it was another no. 42 that stole the spotlight in the second feature for the Modified class. No. D42 Sautter, a long-time veteran in asphalt racing, had his own tough luck over the past 10 years since switching to dirt racing. Shryock, DeVries are repeat winners at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 6) – Kelly Shryock and Kaytee DeVries both won for the for the second time this season at Kossuth County Speedway, in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car and Mach-1 Sport Compact divisions, on June 6. Shryock started on the outside of the fourth row as Derek Green was the early leader in the Stock car feature. Cautions on the eighth and 10th laps brought the 17-car field back together as Shryock slowly reeled in Green. Shryock passed Green with two laps to go to park his no. 3 car in the winner’s circle for the second straight week at Algona. DeVries had the early lead before an early incident that brought out the yellow flag and gave Megan Sandvig the front spot. DeVries battled back to the front to regain the lead and held off Jade Lange for the win. Jacob Bleess was the IMCA Modified winner and 10th starting Leah Wroten topped the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main. Colby Fett was first to the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod checkers.

Porter parks in victory lane at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 8) – Chad Porter put his no. 12 MN 93 IMCA Modified in victory lane at Arlington Raceway for the first time since May 13 of 2017 Saturday night. Porter took the lead on the first lap after a caution that moved him up a row on the restart. When the green flag came back out, he passed three cars going into the first turn to take the lead. He remained the leader for the rest of the race with Trent Loverude directly behind him taking second ahead of Clint Hatlestad. Javen Ostermann won his first Alpha Media IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature, leading the entire caution-free race from start to finish. Wilinski, Christians win again at Shawano

(June 18) – Saturday was a night of familiar faces in victory lane at Shawano Speedway, as Jerry Wilinski secured his second straight IMCA Modified feature and Jeremy Christians outdueled Travis VanStraten for his second IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory of the season. Norman Walbruck snagged the lead on lap one of the Modified and held that spot until lap five when Wilinski charged to the front. Wilinski was in control for the duration of the race for his second consecutive win. Kevin Feck eventually prevailed in the battled for second with Brekken Kleinschmidt taking third. Kurt Olson took the lead at the start of the Stock Car main event before giving way to Mike Schmidt on lap four. IMCA Stock Car winner earns $2,500 at Stuart Speedway’s Dirt Duel

STUART, Iowa – The winner of Stuart Speedway’s Dynamic Drivelines Dirt Duel will go home with a $2,500 check. Qualifying starts on Tuesday, June 11 with a minimum of $300 paid to start the Wednesday, June 12 main event. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region and E3 Spark Plugs Iowa State points will be awarded. Presented by Sniper Speed and Midstate Machine, the Dirt Duel will be broadcast by IMCA.TV. IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods also qualify Tuesday for Wednesday features while Mach-1 Sport Compacts race on opening night and IMCA Modifieds on night two. National, regional, state and track points will be awarded in each of those divisions. Pit gates open at 5 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. both days. Racing will follow 7 p.m. hot laps. Berry is best at Dacotah Speedway

MANDAN, N.D. (June 7) – After finishing runner-up twice the week before, Tom Berry led the final five laps for his first IMCA Modified feature victory of the season at Dacotah Speedway. Jordan Huettl led the Friday night field to green. Jeremy Keller reeled in the leader and took the front spot before a lap 11 caution. On the restart, Spencer Wilson slipped by Huettl, bringing Marlyn Seidler with him. Seidler looked under Wilson and grabbed second before yet another caution regrouped the field. When the race resumed, Berry passed Wilson and then caught Seidler for second with six laps to go. As Keller started catching lapped traffic, Berry used the slower traffic to his advantage and motored by Keller with five laps to go. Keller had to settle for second while Seidler held off Wilson. Storjohann motors to Marshalltown victory

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 7) – Travis Storjohann put his no. 12R machine across the finish line first in scoring the victory in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod 18-lap event Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. He finished just ahead of eighth starting Jake McBirnie. Joel Rust set his hot rod on the top of the track and sailed to the win in the IMCA Modified 20-lapper. Tim Ward finished in the runner up spot, Cody Laney was a hard charger, coming from the 17th starting spot, to finish in third. Ethan Braaksma made his debut in the division, moving up from the SportMods, and took fourth after starting 12th. Randy Havlik charged through the field from starting 18th and was fifth. Last-lap pass nets Clancy $1,000 IMCA Modified win at US 36

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. (June 7) – With $1,000 on the line Friday night at US 36 Raceway, the IMCA Modifieds battled for 20 laps before the top check had a recipient. Chad Clancy led only the last lap but took home the big money and earned a berth on the Fast Shafts All-Star ballot with the victory. Cory Wray had to settle for second while Scott Brown came back from an early race incident to finish third. Clay Hale and Jim Masoner Jr. made up the rest of the top five. After several early cautions, Wray and Clancy settled into the top two spots. Both ran the bottom of the track. Clancy could roll the center of the corner better than everyone on the race track but couldn’t get the drive off to move to the inside of the leader.
