LaCrosse is double winner at Outagamie

SEYMOUR, Wis. (June, 7) – Benji LaCrosse was the class of two fields, scoring wins in the IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Outagamie Speedway powered by Eastern Wisconsin Stock Car Racing. Justin Ritchie jumped to the lead from his front row starting spot in the Modified main. LaCrosse quickly raced to second and set his sights on Ritchie. With both drivers working the top groove, LaCrosse was forced to the bottom. Lap after lap, LaCrosse gained ground, eventually pulling even for the top spot. With five laps remaining, LaCrosse took the lead from Ritchie and never looked back, scoring a popular win. Ritchie had his best run of the season to place second. Kurt Olson led the first six laps of the Stock Car feature until Chaz Van Ooyen raced by for the top spot. Van Ooyen’s reign up front didn’t last long as Eric Arneson slipped by on lap eight. Oliver repeats at Pepsi Lee County Speedway

By Brian Neal DONNELLSON, Iowa (June 7) – John Oliver Jr. went back-to-back with his second consecutive Budweiser IMCA Modified feature win Friday at the Pepsi Lee County Speedway. Levi Smith and Mitch Boles led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 18-lap event, with Boles grabbing the early lead over Smith and Jeff Waterman. Boles held the top spot until lap three, when Waterman got under him. The second of two restarts saw Waterman jump back out front, John Oliver Jr., who started eighth, and Brandon Lennox, who started ninth, close behind. Oliver followed in Waterman’s tire tracks over the next seven laps, waiting for an opportunity to get the lead away from him. Coming off turn four to complete lap 16, Waterman slid up the track, which allowed Oliver to shoot under him for the lead. Meinecke scores Modified win at Stuart

By Josh Reynolds STUART, Iowa (June 5) – Matthew Meinecke was the IMCA Modified winner on a warm Wednesday night at Stuart Speedway. Meinecke led Cory Sauerman and Josh Gilman when the first lap was scored; Gilman got to second on lap three with Clay Money giving chase. The top three stayed the same until Kyle Brown worked his way past Money on lap 18 for third. Gilman used the whole track to reel in the leader, but it was not to be as Meinecke went on to the win. Gilman finished second with Brown third. Buck Schafroth was the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner, by a margin of less than a car length over Brandon Pruitt. The race was for second as Garrett Nelson checked out early in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod contest. Shannon Anderson worked his way through traffic en route to the lead and the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock checkers.

Wassom is awesome at Dawson County

By Kelly Ninas LEXINGTON, Neb. (June 2) – Leading the laps that mattered the most Sunday at Dawson County Raceway was Luke Wassom, in the Overton Sand and Gravel IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Wassom had started outside the fourth row and later overcame being involved in an accident near the midway point to lead the final two laps to win the main event. Battling until the bitter end, Zach Olmstead pressured Wassom in the waning laps. Jordan Grabouski won both the Holbein Lawn Service/K Lawn IMCA Modified and Levander Body Shop IMCA Stock Car features. Wasting no time in snaring the lead and never looking back, Jacob Olmstead was the victor in the Platte Valley Auto Mart IMCA Northern SportMod feature. And putting on a dominating performance, Terry Tritt was the victor in the Plum Creek Motors IMCA Sport Compact feature.

Ashley, Schmidt collect Cottage Grove checkers

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (June 1) – Eric Ashley and David Schmidt were IMCA feature winners on driver appreciation night at Cottage Grove Speedway. Curtis Towns had a good handle on the Mohawk Metal IMCA Modified ranks. Unfortunately, a mechanical failure with the left front would cripple his efforts for the night. Ashley made it past Towns on the final restart to park his mount in the winner’s circle for the first time in the current campaign. Also getting his first win in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods, Schmidt led from lap six on to score the triumph. It is his second overall victory this year after winning a street stock main event a few weeks earlier.

Park Jefferson IMCA Modified win for Mills

JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 1) – A former track champion in the Stock Car division was the Artworks Graphics IMCA Modifieds feature winner Saturday at Park Jefferson Speedway. Chris Mills was able to benefit from a front row starting spot and jump to an early lead, ultimately winning by a margin of four seconds. Mills was chased by R.J. Merchant, who has found a lot of speed over the past few weeks, while Jay Noteboom was third. In the Stevenson Hardware IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars, Dusty Ballenger came flying from eighth with point leader Brant O’Banion in tow as the drivers from the fourth row were able to slide around the smooth racing surface to race into the lead. Ballenger has shown an affinity for the Park surface since the Sprint Cars became weekly and picked up his second win of the year. Anderson tops Arlington Modified main

ARLINGTON, Minn. (June 1) – Saturday’s MN 93 IMCA Modified feature at Arlington Raceway was won by newcomer Cole Anderson, who took the lead on lap six and stayed in front to the checkers. Bill Johnson picked up another trophy in the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature. Michael Stien looked as though he was going to victory lane as he had quite a distance ahead of Johnson but Stien’s tire wore down and Johnson was able to take over the race with four laps to go. The B&B Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature saw Matt Schauer take charge following a restart and capture his first local checkers of the season. Matt Looft was the final leader in the Unhinged Pizza IMCA SportMod main that was contested right to the final lap and Cory Probst motored from 10th starting to win the Eckblad Trucking IMCA Hobby Stock feature. Eleventh starting Alex Dostal was the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact winner.

Modified Madness at US 36 rescheduled for June 21

By Jacob Blair OSBORN, Mo. – Similarly to most other tracks in the region, US 36 Raceway has been forced to cancel events regularly during the 2019 season. Due to the rainouts, US 36 Raceway officials have made some minor adjustments to the schedule along with rescheduling Modified Madness to June 21. This Friday, June 7 will remain the same as all weekly classes will tackle the high banks on Westfall GMC Night at the Races. The IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win in a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying event. It is also CARB Night, Cletus Murray Remembrance Night and Kids Night. The first adjustment to the schedule comes on June 14 with the Bud Shootout. The Sprint Series of Nebraska headlines the event and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are also racing. Fryer takes IMCA Modified win at Dubuque

By Rob Hinckley DUBUQUE, Iowa (June 2) – The track came to him. That is what Jaden Fryer wanted Sunday evening at Dubuque Speedway. The Freeport, Ill. pilot shot from the outside front row and held off track champion Bryce Garnhart and NASCAR and dirt legend Ken Schrader to win the Merfeld Brothers Automotive IMCA Modified 20-lap feature. “This was really special,” Fryer said in C&W Trucking/Hoker Trucking/Kam Koncepts Victory Lane. “It was fun getting the win and we worked hard.” Fryer and his team dedicated the win to a friend recently lost to cancer and had the car wrapped in her memory.
