By Ben Deatherage BELLS, Texas (Apr. 12, 2025) — The season opener for Grayson County Speedway saw an exciting 20-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature where 2013 National and six-time reigning GRT Race Cars South Central Region title winner William Gould stole the show — capping off a rare doubleheader sweep after winning earlier in the night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Joe Gomez, the defending track champion, took the early lead before being pressured by Jay Wells before a caution slowed the pace a few laps in. On the restart, Gomez spun in turn four, handing the lead to Wells. Larry Osborne moved into second and began hounding Wells for the top spot. Janssen Scores Big Win at Cedar County “Spring Fling”

By Jerry Mackey TIPTON, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2025) — Drew Janssen added another major win to his résumé by capturing the $1,500 to win Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature during the “Spring Fling” at Cedar County Raceway. The 25-lapper featured a stacked field of Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s, National, and multi-time track champions. Austin Stamm, aboard the Timmy and Marsha Current provided No. 12T, and Dylan Thornton led early until Janssen, driving the Danny Meier and Trent Guest-owned No. 127, took over on lap 5. The Pella pilot controlled the pace from there, only briefly threatened following a late-race caution. On the restart, local standout Ben Chapman charged low and crossed the line in second, while 10th-starting Jeff Larson guided the P.J. Kostenbader-fielded No. B1 to a third-place finish. Cook Claims Stock Car Thriller

By Ben Deatherage KENNEDALE, Texas (Apr. 12, 2025) — Cameron Cook powered to his second win of the season in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Kennedale Speedway Park, holding off late challenges in a 20-lap barnburner. Christian Miller took the early lead before Damon Hammond slipped under him to lead lap 3. Cook, however, surged down the backstretch and used the top groove to edge past Hammond and take command the next time around the ¼-mile oval. Hammond, the defending KSP title winner, and Cook, the 2022 Texas State champion, both looked strong before cautions on laps eight and ten reset the field. That opened the door for Brett McMillin and Jerrett Bransom to take charge of podium positions. Bransom, a three-time KSP Stock Car champ, made a series of bids to pass Cook using the bottom groove. Thomas Wins a Thriller at Lincoln Park

(Apr. 11, 2025) – The feature event saw Ethan Barrow, the defending state champion, jump out to the early lead in the season opener for the Huntley’s Hoosier Winged Sprints at Lincoln Park Speedway. A couple of early cautions included Ryan Tusing’s slowing, who had previously flipped in his heat race, and a spin from Blake Sholders. The lone red flag of the race came when Tres Mehler flipped his machine on the bottom of the track in between turns three and four. While Ethan Barrow ripped the top of the track and picked off lapped cars, a war was being waged behind him. Faulkner Rockets to Victory in Petaluma Modified Opener

(Apr. 12, 2025) — Rohnert Park’s Jeff Faulkner charged from fifth to first and never looked back, collecting his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the season in Shaw Race Cars Western Region action during Petaluma Speedway’s first race of the year for the division. The 25-lap main event at the 3/8-mile adobe clay oval on the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds opened with an exciting battle between Tim Yaeger and Jason Clayton. Clayton seized control on lap 2 and began pulling away from the field. By lap 5, Faulkner had climbed into third after an intense battle with reigning track champion Michael Paul Jr. A debris caution on lap eight erased Clayton’s advantage and tightened the field up. Shute Shines in Stuart Modified Season Opener

By Ben Deatherage STUART, Iowa (Apr. 13, 2025) — The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds headlined the 64th season opener at Stuart Speedway, and Norwalk’s Todd Shute powered to victory in the 20-lap feature. California transplant Trevor Fitz jumped out to the early lead and held back two-time defending national champion Chaz Baca Jr. of Arizona during the opening laps. A lap seven restart brought new challengers, as Shute and Tanner Black joined the fray. Shute, the 2007 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner and three-time defending Stuart track titlist, made a decisive move on lap 11 to edge out Fitz at the line. Rasmussen Rallies to Second Straight California RaceSaver Win

(Apr. 12, 2025) — The California RaceSaver Sprint Series delivered a thriller Saturday night, where Clovis chauffeur Kyle Rasmussen charged from sixth to win the 25-lap RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main event at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern County Raceway. Rasmussen made his move into second just before Pombo hit lapped traffic. With the field bunching up ahead of the leader, Rasmussen seized his opportunity—sliding under Pombo to take command entering turn one on lap 16. From there, Rasmussen never looked back. The Council Bluffs racer took full advantage of a front row starting spot and looked composed throughout the feature. After grabbing the lead near the halfway point, Getzschman held off a charging field of veterans to score his first-ever IMCA Late Model victory. Brett Hopp made a last-lap bid but had to settle for second, while Nebraskan Kale Kosiski rounded out the podium in third. Hogge Holds Off Manning for Merced Modified Victory

(Apr. 12, 2025) — Bobby Hogge wasted no time taking command when the 25-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature got up to speed Saturday night at Merced Speedway. The 2020 California Speedweek titleholder from Salinas, wheeled the Paul Guglielmoni-owned entry into the lead early, then maintained his edge through traffic and restarts. A caution on lap seven temporarily slowed the field, but once green flag racing resumed, Hogge stayed committed to the low line while the two-defending track champion Jim Pettit II and two-time Bakersfield Speedway titlist Gavyn Manning battled for second. Manning eventually cleared Pettit and began to close in on Hogge, testing the high groove to mount a challenge.
