Gustin makes late pass for victory at Benton County Speedway

VINTON, Iowa (Apr. 26) – Jenae Gustin used a pass in the final corner to earn top Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod honors Sunday night at Benton County Speedway. Tony Olson held the lead at the drop of the green in the 20-lapper before Clint Luellen took command following a lap five restart. Meanwhile, Gustin was working through the field from a fifth row start and settled into second just past the midway point. With Luellen navigating through slower traffic, Gustin was able to chip away at the lead in the waning laps. Running the top side throughout the event, Gustin was forced to the low groove in traffic and was able to challenge Luellen for the lead late. Gustin and Luellen went three-wide with a lapped car exiting four on the final circuit with Gustin able to inch ahead at the line to score the victory. Luellen ran second ahead of Colby Heishman. Hager repeats in IMCA Hobbies at RPM

By Mike Hughes HAYS, Kan. (April 25) – Hometown driver Garrett Hager won his second feature in a row at RPM Speedway Saturday evening. Brady Bencken led the first 11 laps of the 20-lap IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock event when Robert Leonard slowed to bring out a caution. While under caution, Bencken went to the pits with a flat tire. That handed the lead over to Shay Simoneau when the green flag returned, but he was passed by Hager on the following lap. Hager held on through two more cautions to make his return appearance in the winner’s circle. Duane Wahrman finished in the runner-up spot. The most emotional feature win of the night went to Casey Woken. He took the lead on lap seven from Nick Tubbs and drove away for the victory in the Advantage Glass Plus IMCA Stock Car main event. Sellard doubles up at Dodge City

(April 25) – Clay Sellard doubled up by winning not only the makeup IMCA Modified feature event from April 11 but then the regularly scheduled feature as well Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park. The evening began with the postponed event with Sellard racing past early leader Austin Allen on the opening round en route to his first of two wins on the night. Allen paced the opening eight rounds ahead of Joel Lane and Sellard, with Sellard racing past Lane for second on the eighth lap and then disposing of Allen for the lead the next time around. Allen battled back on the 12th round, only to have a caution negate the move. Sellard took full advantage of the reprieve, keeping has chasers at bay the rest of the way even with an unhinged hood blocking his view. Cady collects top IMCA Modified cash at Willamette

By Ben Deatherage LEBANON, Ore. (April 25) – Dustin Cady raced his way back to victory lane Saturday at Willamette Speedway. Bricen James had the car to beat for much of the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature. The teenager ran a great race but was overtaken by a late-race pass. Fellow Albany driver Cady made a banzai move on lap 23 to propel his mount into the lead. Cady stayed out in front the rest of the way and parked his number 7 GRT in the winner’s circle. It was the second straight victory for the team at Willamette as Cady was the winner of the last IMCA Modified event at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval. B.J. Wild was second and James ended in third.

Huls, Gower, Abbott score wins at Quincy

By Jack Walbring QUINCY, Ill. (April 26) – Abe Huls, Joey Gower and Kimberly Abbott all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceway during the second night of the 2015 race season on Sunday. Huls held off several challengers to take the feature win in the Powder Coat Plus IMCA Stock Car main event. Jake Powers settled for second followed by Jerry Jansen. Nineteen Summy Tire and Auto Center IMCA Northern SportMods signed in to do battle with Gower coming from his third row starting spot to take the checkers. Gower held back Tony Dunker in second and Bobby Anders in third. Abbott charged to the front of the Mach-1 Sport Compact main event from her fourth row starting spot in just five laps and pulled away for the feature win over Sieth Woodruff in second and Brandon Lambert in third.

Sprint Series of Nebraska opener goes to Grossenbacher

The Sprint Series of Nebraska opener ran green to checkered with Grossenbacher going up in a huge cloud of steam as his radiator hose blew coming out of turn four on the final lap. He limped to the Rumble in The Bullring win with Jake Bubak second, Clint Benson third and Adam Gullion fourth. “I love winning in any kind of car and I plan on being here quite a bit this year. Galbreath storms to Bay Area Modified Tour triumph

MILTON, Fla. (April 25) – Severe storms threatened as Justin Galbreath made like lightning in winning Saturday’s Bay Area Modified Emerald Coast Tour feature at Southern Raceway. Galbreath was on a rail, leading most of the 25-lapper after starting fourth. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified victory was worth $650. Jason Barnhill, Tyler Allen, Brandon Kilpatrick and Scott Sessions completed the top five. Sessions earned $100 for his hard charger efforts from 12th on the original grid. Jessie Barnhill was the $50 hard luck award recipient after losing his second engine in as many races. Anschutz cruises to first IMCA Stock Car win at Thunderhill

By Edward Anschutz STURGEON BAY, Wis. (April 25) – Jeremy Anschutz withstood heavy pressure from Rod Snellenberger to win his first-ever IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature at Thunderhill Raceway. Jeremy Anschutz gained control on lap three after Scott Reinhardt tagged the wall. Snellenberger wasted no time jumping to the runner up spot and began to pressure Anschutz down low. Snellenberger took the lead on lap six but Anschutz came storming back up top to regain the front. While trying to find a little extra grip down low, Snellenberger clipped an infield tire, allowing defending champ Dave Bouche to sneak by. In the end it was Anschutz cruising to the win over Bouche. Snellenberger had to settle for third. Other feature winners were Todd Dart in the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, Todd Wiese in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Dave Schmidt in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. VanDenBerg scores first IMCA Modified win at Lee County

VanDenBerg was briefly in the lead following an early restart. Bill Roberts Jr. slipped under him to grab the point. The front pair raced side-by-side for two circuits before VanDenBerg regained first.
