Van Pay conquers 33-car IMCA Modified field at 141

By Greg Aregoni FRANCIS CREEK, Wis. (April 25) – R.M. Van Pay showed he is still one of the top hands in the poker division that is the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified class after all his years in competition. Van Pay bested a star-studded 33-car field Saturday at 141 Speedway. Jay Matthias was putting the lap money in his pocket early, working the berm smoothly while Van Pay settled into second. Not content to just occasionally take a peak underneath, Van Pay made his move halfway through the event. He shot down low heading into turn one as Matthias had his right rear tire go down. Van Pay cleared Matthias and then set sail on the top of the track. Van Pay picked up the caution-free feature event win, his career 123rd in the division. Kyle Kudick prevailed in a late-race duel with Tim Czarneski for the runner-up spot. John Heinz picked up his second straight IMCA Sunoco Stock Car victory. Other winners included Ryan Lemieux in the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Shaun [Read More]

The IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season concludes with the Sept. 25 and 26 P-Town Showdown special. “I really like the way IMCA programs are run,” said promoter and general manager Mary Beth Cripe. “IMCA puts the drivers first. Other sanctioning bodies don’t always do that.” “The IMCA divisions are also very competitive,” she added. “You don’t have the same guy winning week after week.” Like IMCA, NAPA Auto Parts will have a prominent role at Princeton Speedway this season. In addition to taking over title sponsorship of victory lane, NAPA will give $25 gift cards to hard chargers in main events for each division [Read More]

MSD adds more Stock Car awards to IMCA program

EL PASO, Texas – MSD adds more awards for Stock Car drivers in its 12th season as a marketing partner with IMCA. The El Paso, Texas, manufacturer and distributor is new to the national decal program for the full-bodied division this year and gives $100 product certificates to top 10 drivers in final standings for both Stock Car regions. MSD also continues a comprehensive contingency awards program covering five divisions and the Deery Brothers Summer Series. “MSD is the overwhelming choice for IMCA ignition components and accessories and the quality of those products is the main reason why,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “They work hard to develop products to safeguard IMCA power plants and for this reason we endorse their products above all others in the field.” Top eligible drivers in each of the five Modified regions receive 6AL ignition control boxes and Blaster HVC coils; the runner-up gets a control box, third and fourth place drivers get universal spark plug wire sets and the fifth place driver receives a Blaster HVC coil. Cassell looks to defend IMCA Modified Oregon state title in 2015

By Ben Deatherage ALBANY, Ore. – Craig Cassell of Albany enters this season as the defending Allstar Performance Oregon State champion. In 2015 he will try his very best to defend that IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified crown. In two starts this season he managed a 15th place finish at Cottage Grove on April 4 but was very impressive last weekend at Sunset Speedway Park, ending the evening second in the feature. “Last weekend we were a little off but we learned some stuff with this car,” commented Cassell. “We were good toward the end so I’m not going to complain.” “We had to make a lot of small changes to the car this year, so the balance of the car is still a little off of where it needs to be,” he added. Cassell will visit Willamette Speedway in Lebanon this Saturday, April 25 in hopes of collecting his first triumph of the season.  It is a venue where he has graced victory lane on five occasions while finishing runner-up in the points table [Read More]
