Gustin wins Yankee feature, Lauritzen takes Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour title

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 14) – Richie Gustin celebrated a $2,000 feature win and Ronn Lauritzen celebrated a series championship Saturday night at Farley Speedway. Gustin led the last 28 of 30 laps in topping the Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour presented by XSAN main event for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, outdistancing Mitch Morris and Kurt Kile in the Yankee Dirt Track Classic dash to the checkers. Lauritzen, meanwhile finished fourth to win the series championship. Point standings are based on drivers’ best eight finishes over the course of the 11-race series and Lauritzen rallied to edge Mike Van Genderen by two markers for the crown. Pole starter Steve Stewart led the first two laps before Gustin pulled alongside and was scored first across the line on the third circuit. Schueller tops Friday Hawkeye Dirt Tour feature at Farley

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 13) – Jason Schueller led most of the way and pulled ahead late in winning Friday’s Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour presented by XSAN feature at Farley Speedway. The $1,500 IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified series victory came during the Yankee Dirt Track Classic and put Schueller on the ballot for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Mark Elliott qualified from his “B” feature and advanced 15 spots to second while new series point leader Mike Van Genderen was third. Mark Schulte and Jerry Luloff rounded out the top five. Schulte drew the outside front row start and led the first two circuits. The third starting Schueller was alongside and ahead by the width of his bumper when the next lap was scored, then began to pull away before a lap seven caution tightened the field back up. Simpson is fastest in big Deery field at Yankee

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 13) – A driver who is no stranger to victory lane at Farley Speedway won his career first Deery Brothers Summer Series feature there Friday night. Chad Simpson raced his way from his “B” feature to the $3,000 checkers in the IMCA Late Model main event. A season-best 54 cars were entered in the Yankee Dirt Track Classic show, the 14th of 17 tour events this season. Tommy Elston started on the pole and led the first 18 of 40 laps. Denny Eckrich ran second most of that time before catching Elston and running in front the next three times around the half-mile dirt oval. That’s when Simpson took over. Yankee Dirt Track Classic dates this weekend for Deery Series, Karl Performance Hawkeye Dirt Tour

FARLEY, Iowa (Sept. 10) – One IMCA special series continues and another concludes during the upcoming Yankee Dirt Track Classic Weekend at Farley Speedway. Jeff Aikey has won the last two events while Brian Harris leads the Deery Brothers Summer Series standings heading into Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 shows. The opening night IMCA Late Model main event pays $3,000 to win while the Saturday winner earns $7,500. Friday’s 40-lapper pays a minimum of $300 to start. Taking the initial green for the 75-lapper on Saturday is worth at least $500. Shelby County Speedway hosts 22nd annual Tiny Lund Memorial this weekend

HARLAN, Iowa – A purse of more than $50,000 will be paid out at the 22nd annual Tiny Lund Memorial, scheduled this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14 at Shelby County Speedway. The IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature pays $3,000 to win, a minimum of $250 to start and is a qualifier for the 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $2,000 to win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks chase a top prize of $1,000. Chateau’s Border War special pays $1,000 to IMCA Stock Car winner

LANSING, Minn. (Sept. 9) – The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car winner at Chateau Raceway’s Border War special earns $1,000 for their Friday, Sept. 13 efforts. A minimum of $75 will be paid to start. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Arnold Motor Supply Northern Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee for the draw/redraw show is $25 and pit passes are $30. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and free for five and under. Cogburn captures Southern SportMod Nationals crown

WACO, Texas (Sept. 7) – It took two days of heat races, ‘B’ features and qualifying features before local driver, Chris Cogburn thrilled the crowd by winning the Southern SportMod Nationals Saturday night at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. The win was good for $3,000. G.W. Egbert settled for second and Dean Abbey rounded out the top three in the ninth annual special for Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods. Smith, Czarapata, Pruitt, VanDenberg are Saturday night Super Nationals champions

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 7) – Dylan Smith heads the list of first-time champions crowned Saturday night at the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Smith led the last 10 circuits in winning the Modified main event at Boone Speedway. Restarts erased each of Chris Mills’ big leads and helped open the door for Smith, who then had to hold off Jon Snyder following a late restart. “I knew if we could stay in the top four we’d have a shot at it in the end,” said Smith, who earned $5,800 for his efforts, including a $3,800 Speedway Motors Weekly Racing bonus. “I really didn’t want to see that yellow come with two laps to go but it all worked out.” Keith White and Shawn Kilgore completed the top four. Masters, Meyer pace Stock Car qualifiers

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 6) – Jake Masters and Steve Meyer took home trophies from Friday night Stock Car qualifiers at Boone Speedway. Masters made his way from 12th starting to win the first IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s qualifier of the evening. Meyer beat Brian Irvine in a near photo finish to the green, white, checkered second show. Wayne Gifford, Ken Tietz and Todd Reitzler joined Masters in advancing to the outside row of Saturday’s main event. Also advancing from the nightcap were Damon Murty, who’d started 24th, and Dustin Larson. Perry Misner led most of the second show before slowing with mechanical difficulties. Larson and Irvine did brief stints in front before Meyer’s late heroics. All eight drivers have previous Saturday starts on their resumes. Mills, Snyder dominate Friday Modified qualifiers

BOONE, Iowa (Sept. 6) – Dominating runs put Chris Mills and Jon Snyder on the podium following Modified qualifying features Friday at Boone Speedway. Mills led every lap in the first IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s qualifier. Snyder was scored in front on each of the last 19 of 25 circuits in the second show. Ryan Watnem, defending champion Jeff Taylor and J.D. Auringer chased Mills across the stripe. The top four in the nightcap was represented by four different states as Jason Cummins, Shawn Kilgore and William Gould finished behind Snyder. All eight drivers advance to the outside row of Saturday’s main event.
