Championship Night Friday at Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. – It’s the final laps of the 2013 racing season at Oshkosh Speedzone. After an exciting and successful season at the 1/3-mile clay oval, the raceway is ready to determine a new class of champions. First up tonight (Friday, Aug. 30) is the LaSaure’s Banquet Hall season championship night at the races. Season-long point battles will come to an end and the champions in each of the five weekly divisions will be named. The point battles in three classes are exceptionally tight and will likely not be settled until the final checker flag drops. Three first time winners at I-35 Speedway

By Greg Grabianowski MASON CITY, Iowa (Aug. 25) – In the last night of dirt track racing at I-35 Speedway before next week’s season championships, three different drivers earned their first feature victories of 2013 at the half-mile oval. Jesse Brown outlasted John Campbell and Heath Tulp to grab his first-ever IMCA Sunoco Stock Car win. Brown took full advantage of his outside front row starting position. This is Brown’s second season in the division and he had not placed in the top four previously at I-35 this season. Campbell finished second with Tulp placing third; Chris Adams took fourth and point-leader Travis Shipman rounded out the top five. Matt White survived a wild last lap, four-car battle to earn his first victory of the year in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Tri-County Heating championship night at Luxemburg

By Greg Aregoni LUXEMBURG, Wis. – Championship night is upon us for the 2013 season at Luxemburg Speedway. Tonight (Friday, Aug. 30) champions will be crowned in all five divisions. Tri-County Heating will sponsor the final point night with racing starting at 7 p.m. There will be kids’ bikes to be given away courtesy of Tri- County Heating. There is also Big Wheel’s courtesy of Cory Cochart racing. The IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks provide the closest battle and either way it shakes down there will be a first time champ. Derek Moede is considered the veteran in the class and holds a two point edge over rookie Dan VanPay. Sawyer Haese needs a little help as he sits five points behind Moede. Shawn Kilgore and Todd Dart have won many championships in their respective careers but a Luxemburg IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified crown has eluded both. Added money for SportMods Saturday at DCRP

By Lonnie Wheatley DODGE CITY, Kan. – The United Wireless IMCA Sport Modifieds will have a little extra incentive to reach the front during Saturday’s Pack the Stands night at Dodge City Raceway Park as extra money has been added to their purse for the Aug. 31 event. Saturday’s card, which offers free admission to Dodge City residents, also includes the track’s other championship chase divisions of IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Thunder Cars and Hornets with racing action going green at 7:30 p.m. An extra $500 has been added to the United Wireless IMCA SportMod purse on Saturday night by an anonymous donor. Inaugural Karl Crate Clash adds 10th engine to prize package at upcoming Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – A 10th engine has been added to the awards package at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. The Modified winner of the inaugural Karl Crate Clash on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Boone Speedway gets a 604 crate engine. The 12 drivers starting the winner take-all race will be randomly selected from those filling out and returning a sign-up form, to be included in their registration packet, to the Karl Chevrolet booth on Manufacturers’ Row. Drivers have from Monday, Sept. 2 until noon on Thursday to return those forms. Twelve names will be drawn and the starting field announced during the drivers’ meeting Thursday afternoon. Three features for IMCA Modifieds at Gillette’s East-West Clash

GILLETTE, Wyo. – Three feature events for IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds are on the card for Gillette Thunder Speedway’s 14th annual East-West Clash Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30-Sept. 1. The opening night feature pays $600 to win. Saturday and Sunday races pay $1,000 to win, a minimum of $100 to start and are 2014 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifiers. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, Larry Shaw Racing Western Region and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded all three nights. Heart O’ Texas Speedway to host Southern SportMod Nationals Sept. 6-7

WACO, Texas – The winner’s share of the purse is $3,000 when Heart O’ Texas Speedway hosts the Southern SportMod Nationals set for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 6-7. The feature for IMCA Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods pays a minimum of $200 to start. Non-qualifiers get $150. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded. Entry fee is $50. All Southern SportMod drivers who have won a sanctioned feature this season are eligible to qualify for Saturday’s 12-car All-Star field. That race pays $350 to win and a minimum of $50 to start. Ocean’s IMCA Pettit Shootout pays $15,003 to win

WATSONVILLE, Calif. – The biggest IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified payday of the season will come at Ocean Speedway’s third annual Pat Pettit Memorial Shootout Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21. The winner earns a hefty $15,003. The runner-up earns $5,003, while third place is worth $2,003, fourth place pays $1,203 and fifth nets $1,103. A minimum of $503 will be paid to start the 22-car, 50-lap event. 2013 IMCA point season ends on Sept. 29

VINTON, Iowa – The 2013 weekly point season for eight IMCA divisions ends on Sunday, Sept. 29. Final races are scheduled for the IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified, IMCA Sprint Car, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMod and Mach-1 Sport Compact classes, as well as West Coast Super Stocks. Bonus points for track championships will be figured and national champions and rookies of the year announced as soon as possible. Regional champions and rookies of the year will also be named for the Modifieds, Stock Cars and Hobby Stocks. State champions will be crowned in all divisions.
