Southern Oregon Speedway to Host Inaugural $10,000 to Win Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout

By Joby Shields WHITE CITY, Ore. (July 14, 2025) — Southern Oregon Speedway is proud to announce the inaugural Legends of Dirt Modified Shootout, scheduled for August 15–16. A special Test & Tune session will kick off the weekend on Thursday, August 14. The highly anticipated event will feature the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, with Saturday’s finale paying a staggering $10,000 to win and $500 to start. This inaugural shootout is more than just a race—it’s a tribute honoring the memory of R. Charles Snyder, Bruce Rayburn, and all the people who helped build the soul of Southern Oregon Speedway. From longtime fans to first-time visitors, the event promises to rekindle the energy and excitement that defined the glory days of Pacific Northwest Modified racing. Racers will be greeted with more than just a strong purse. Contingency awards are stacked across both days of competition. From hard charger bonuses and tough luck prizes to fuel cells, headers, tools, tires, and gift cards, participants will have plenty of ways to earn. Even the fans and pit crews will [Read More]

James Banks $7,500 Payday with First Modified Nationals Win at Grays Harbor

By Ben Deatherage ELMA, Wash. (July 19, 2025) —  Bricen James added another major milestone to his growing resume Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway, capturing his first Modified Nationals victory in the 40-lap Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature. The $7,500 triumph marked his seventh win of the season in the Shaw Race Cars Western Region and his first at GHR in 2025. Oregon’s Grey Ferrando, a past track champion at both Cottage Grove and Willamette Speedways and last year the Cocopah Speedway champion in Somerton, Arizona, set the early pace in the Geoff Morris-owned no. 52. Ethan Killingsworth, a Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod standout in his first Modified season, ran second early and kept Ferrando honest through the first half. Behind them, two-time defending IMCA Wild West Speedweek champ and 2019 Western Region titlist James worked his way through the top five, eventually clearing Eston Whisler for third. By lap 21, Killingsworth made a serious bid for the lead, but Ferrando held strong on the bottom. The move opened the door for James, who [Read More]

Inaugural Frank Brewer Memorial G60 Classic Headlines July 26 Program at Cottage Grove

By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (July 22, 2025) — A special night of racing is in store at Cottage Grove Speedway this Saturday, July 26, as the historic 1/4-mile clay oval hosts the inaugural Frank Brewer Memorial G60 Classic. The event, honoring longtime tire vendor and Cottage Grove fixture Frank Brewer, will feature the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds in a unique and lucrative format — and serve as a qualifier for the Fast Shafts All-Star Modified Invitational, to be held at the Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s later this summer. Modified drivers will qualify through single-car time trials, with heat races lined up straight off the stopwatch. The only exception is that the fastest car in each heat will start fourth. Winners of each heat race, along with the fastest car that finishes high enough to qualify for the A Main, will advance to the Dash. Any car that starts fourth and wins its heat is automatically awarded the best starting spot possible in the dash, while remaining dash participants will draw [Read More]
