Deery Series headlines opening night at IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa – Opening night of the 2019 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s brings the Deery Brothers Summer Series to Boone Speedway for the 49th time. The IMCA Late Model tour headlines the Monday, Sept. 2 program at Boone, in a main event that pays as much as $3,500 to win. Along with a guaranteed $2,000, the winner earns a Weekly Racing Bonus of as much as $1,500 based on their number of sanctioned starts this season, plus a wealth of contingency awards. Pit gates open at 9 a.m. and racing starts at 2 p.m. Also on the Labor Day card are qualifying races for Hobby Stocks and Northern SportMods. Pit passes are $30 and grandstand admission is $20. Drivers must pre-enter for Super Nationals to compete in Aug. 31 Prelude at Boone

BOONE, Iowa – Modified, Stock Car, Northern SportMod and Hobby Stock drivers must be pre-entered for the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s to compete in the Saturday, Aug. 31 Wild Rose and Casino Resort Prelude at Boone Speedway. “There were approximately 240 cars entered in the Prelude last year. Those types of numbers have a tremendous effect time-wise on the sign-in and lineup process,” explained IMCA President Brett Root. “Accepting unexpected and large numbers of late entries effects the entire process and would result in a late start and late conclusion to the Prelude race program.” The Prelude Modified feature pays $1,000 to win and is a qualifying event for the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. California driver strikes gold on Super Saturday at Boone

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 3) – Californian Cody Laney collected the IMCA Modified checkers and $1,000 at Boone Speedway’s Super Saturday show, which drew 160 entries in all. Laney led all 20 laps and won going away, earning a spot on the 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. Another Californian, Ethan Dotson, drove his ride from sixth to finish second in the Watermelon Classic headliner. Thor Anderson ran at the front of the field all race and finished third, fourth went to Randy Havlik, and Jeff Aikey finished fifth. Ricky Thornton was the $1,000 TiLUBE Challenge winner earlier in the evening while Richie Gustin pocketed $500 for taking the Second Chance Showdown. Brandon Pruitt took advantage of his outside front row starting position, grabbed the lead immediately and held off some heavy competition in leading all of the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature. Frostbuster finale brings 187 cars to Boone Speedway

By Joyce Eisele BOONE, Iowa (April 6) – Boone Speedway hosted night two of the 2019 IMCA Frostbuster specials on Saturday night with a 187 race cars competing at Iowa’s Action Track. Ricky Thornton Jr. topped the IMCA Modified feature, while Tyler Thompson paced the IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars. Other winners were Jay Schmidt in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, Eric Stanton in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Brandon Schmitt in the Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods. A stout field of 53 Modifieds vied for a Frostbuster crown. Their feature event had to be whittled down to a 24-car starting field for their “A” main. Jimmy Gustin leaped to the lead from his pole starting position, only to have it snatched away by Thornton on lap three. From there on, Thornton motored to the win and another Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying $1,000 prize. Opening night Frostbuster entries total 173, Grabouski makes right moves for $1,000 win

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 5) – Jordan Grabouski paused during his post-race interview to wave to a fan who’d driven all the way from Beatrice to watch him win Friday’s Frostbuster feature for IMCA Modifieds at Marshalltown Speedway. Then he got back to answering questions about his competition and outrunning Ricky Thornton Jr. for the $1,000 checkers. “This field was good enough that this could have been a $5,000 or $10,000 to win race,” said Grabouski,” who led all 25 laps, first in front of Tim Ward and then the last 18 caution-free circuits ahead of Thornton. “We caught lapped traffic and I needed to make the right moves. Ricky is about as good as it gets. It was hairy,” continued Grabouski, also the Frostbuster winner at Marshalltown in 2009. STUART, Iowa – Both the Wednesday, April 3 practice night and Thursday, April 4 IMCA Frostbuster at Stuart Speedway have now been canceled. Rain in the forecast, a lack of drying time and a frozen water line share the blame. Marshalltown Speedway hosts the Friday, April 5 show and Boone Speedway hosts the Saturday, April 6 finale. Main event qualifiers in 5 divisions get replica door panels, hoods from Five1seven Designs

BOONE, Iowa – Qualifiers for main events in five of the divisions featured over the course of the Sept. 3-8 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s take home special souvenirs from the 36th annual event. Five1seven Designs gives replica door panels to Modified and Northern SportMod qualifiers while Stock Car, Hobby Stock and Sport Compact qualifiers all receive replica hoods. Replica door panels measure 10” tall by 23” long while hoods are 12” by 16.” Awards will be made specific to each division and display the Super Nationals logo along with the word Qualifier. They’ll be presented to Sport Compact drivers on Tuesday and to drivers in the other four divisions as they qualify. This is the seventh year Five1seven Designs has given qualifier awards.

Hope For The Warriors check presentation during Saturday Super Nationals program

BOONE, Iowa – Representatives of Hope For The Warriors will be in attendance and the center of attention during the Saturday race program at the upcoming IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s. Ankeny-based Casey’s General Store, the presenting sponsor for Super Nationals, donates $10 for each heat race won by a Modified, Late Model, Stock Car, Hobby Stock, Northern SportMod or Sport Compact driver displaying a Casey’s decal between Sept. 3 and Sept. 7. IMCA matches the amount given by Casey’s. Officials from both Casey’s and IMCA will present a check for approximately $5,000 to Hope For The Warriors in front of the flagstand during a break in the Saturday race program. A national nonprofit organization founded in 2006, Hope For The Warriors assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty. The official convenience store of IMCA, Casey’s has supported Hope For The Warriors with previous fundraisers, including donations at Super Nationals every year since 2013.
