Allen captures Dirt Dominator at Heart O’ Texas

By Mike Spieker WACO, Texas (May 25) – Chase Allen of Midlothian punched his ticket into the IMCA Modified Dirt Dominator finale with his qualifying win Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway. Allen was paired with Abilene driver Chris Elliott in the final round. Allen took the lead at the drop of the green flag for the two and a half lap shootout. Elliott remained within striking distance while running patiently around the low side of the speedway as the white flag flew. Allen kept his no. 130 machine up on the high side around the smooth and slick high-banked quarter-mile dirt oval. Allen had little pressure entering the final set of corners as he cruised to the win and the $1,000 payday. With the win, Allen is now locked into the $10,000-to-win Dirt Dominator finale at Heart O’ Texas Speedway on Oct. 25. Sweet 16 Eric Tomlinson defeated Riley Simmons; Cory Davis defeated Chris Bragg; Justin McCoy defeated Garrett Higgins; Chris Elliott defeated Jeff Hoegh; Ryan Williams defeated Danny Turner; Clay Money defeated Colin Deming; [Read More]

Dowell rallies to bag big check at Bagby Memorial

WACO, Texas (March 16) – After getting the lead back a second time, J.P. Dowell held off Justin McCoy for the $1,000 IMCA Modified feature win at Heart O’ Texas Speedway’s Jack Bagby Memorial. Making his first start of the season in a car borrowed from Pat McGuire, Dowell drew the pole start. McCoy started outside front row and got ahead early and then again with two circuits left in the 20-lapper. “I’ve won this event before and this year’s race played out in my favor. It didn’t hurt starting on the pole,” Dowell said. “I chased Justin past midway before I could pass him back the first time. The second time was do or die. I got around him on the outside and had the lead when we came to the white flag.” “It was exciting. It was a good race,” the new Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier added. “It was exciting to pick up the big trophy and the big check.” McCoy, Justin Radcliff, Chase Allen and Kevin Green completed Friday’s top [Read More]

Classic run takes Roth to checkers at HOT’s 20th anniversary fall special

WACO, Texas (Oct. 28) – Anthony Roth got his first look at Heart O’ Texas Speedway when he pulled in for the Thursday practice session that preceded the weekend Fall Classic special. He had a check for $4,000 in his pocket and a season-ending IMCA Modified feature win when he drove out of the pit area at Waco two nights later. “We were looking to end the season on a high note,” said the Columbus driver, who had been KO’d by a late flat while running second in his final outing in his home state of Nebraska. “We were confident going down there that the car would be good.” Forced to qualify through his last-chance race on Saturday after getting together with another car in the opening night feature, Roth started 11th and had the lead nine circuits into the 30-lapper. “Mainly I used the bottom. I got everybody in (turns) one and two and when I got the lead I went to the top,” said Roth, already on the ballot for the Fast Shafts All-Star [Read More]
