By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (June 17, 2023) – Saturday was the time to crown the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Royal Rumble mini-series, sponsored by Sundowner Performance Diesel, champion at I-37 Speedway. There had been three different winners in the previous three races, Dillon Tindall, Chris Morris and Ryan Doyon, with Tindall and Tanner Whitmire tied for the lead going into the finale, Logan Dinsmore three points out and Doyon rounding out the top. The race sailed by, going green to checkers on the blackened off track. Dinsmore drew the pole and took advantage of the starting spot, jumping out front as three-wide for second sorted out to Whitmire, Tindall and Doyon with Landon Bednarz fifth. Johnny Torres, in a borrowed ride, moved past Bednarz for fifth, then Doyon for fourth. Coming to halfway it was Dinsmore maintaining his advantage over Whitmire, Tindall, Torres and Doyon. Dinsmore was hitting traffic, but only missed a beat once as the laps waned. Dinsmore easily took the checkers. “I’ll probably give dad his sponsored money back, or go [Read More]

Morris reigns in round 2 of Royal Rumble

By JM Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (May 6, 2023) – The first round of I-37 Speedway Royal Rumble ended with heartbreak for Chris Morris. Round two on Saturday was his night for atonement. Two weeks ago, the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main had a thrilling finish with a last-lap pass for the win by Dillon Tindall. After a late restart Tindall took advantage of a rare mistake by Morris in turn three when he pushed up too high, allowing Tindall to dive low and take the top spot coming to the white flag and then hanging on to the checkers. Round two at Pleasanton saw 17 cars roar to life with Tanner Whitmire taking the point ahead of Morris, Mark Carrell, Tindall and Chris Carroll. Tindall snuck past Carrell for third and closed on Morris, who slid high in turns three and four. An infield tire slowed the pace for a lap five yellow. On the restart, Tindall got by Morris for second while Logan Dinsmore, Jared Maupin and Hardy Henderson went three-wide for sixth. That [Read More]

Logan Dinsmore used the middle groove to get second back from Doyon but his dad had already checked out.  “Finally, we have this car figured out,” said Dinsmore. “We raced it a couple times last year. It was quick, but we had some problems we had to work out. It’s really coming around. Starting on the pole didn’t hurt. We had a good run in the heat.”  “It was awesome finishing [Read More]

Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (April 30, 2022) – After a two week hiatus, it was time to fire up the engines on the ¼ mile semi-banked I-37 Speedway dirt oval Saturday and Tanner Whitmire was back in victory lane after a lengthy hiatus of his own. Green to checkers for Green at I-37

By J.M. Hallas  PLEASANTON, Texas (April 9, 2022) – After a scheduled week off, it was time for round two of the I-37 Speedway point season and Rick Green raced to his first IMCA Modified feature win of the season in flag-to-flag fashion. As green waved on the 20-lap main it was Green with a big run into turn one. Four cautions slowed the first half of the contest but the last half was run under green with Jared Maupin looking middle-up on Green in turns one and two and then the bottom in turns three and four. Greg Dinsmore closed in on Maupin looking low as Maupin tried high. This gave Doyon the chance to reel Dinsmore in for the closing laps. Up front it was the former track champion, Green inching ahead by a couple car lengths to score the victory. “They let me take the green flag tonight,” joked Green. “I actually drove it in a little too hard and saw him (Maupin) get beside me. Maupin prevails in IMCA Modified opener at I-37

By J.M. Hallas PLEASANTON, Texas (March 19, 2022) – Spring has (almost) sprung, with the new season only hours away before the green flag waved for the I-37 Speedway season opener on the ¼-mile, semi-banked dirt oval, just south of San Antonio. As the IMCA Modified 20-lap main fired off it was Jared Maupin off turn two with the lead trailed by Chris Morris, Cameron Starry, Robert Liese and Ryan Doyon in top five.  After a quick spin and caution, Morris began his challenge on Maupin for the lead, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him. Morris tried diving in low and got alongside Maupin, but Maupin held him off. Another quick spin-caution set up a repeat of Morris trying to stick the nose inside Maupin on the restart, to no avail.  After a lap 16 restart, the top three broke away quickly back under green with Morris still trying to dive in under Maupin. Morris got his best chance on lap 18 getting door to door with Maupin on the back stretch, but [Read More]

By J.M. Hallas  PLEASANTON, Texas (July 31) – Saturday was I-37 Speedway’s annual Back to School Night with the track and Team Dinsmore handing out school supplies to kids in need that attended.  A lucky 13 IMCA Modifieds took the green with Rick Green grabbing the point off turn two pursued by Marcus Mikulencak, Logan Dinsmore and Craig Oakes.  After a series of cautions, it was Green getting a slight advantage while Mikulencak and Jared Maupin battled for second and Oakes quickly working forward getting past Cameron Starry and McSpadden for fifth. JP Dowell had a good run going taking third from Maupin before pulling off just before halfway. Oakes was able to snag third from Mikulencak while Dinsmore and McSpadden were side-by-side for fifth. Up front, Green was easing away while Oakes and Maupin battled for second. A late caution for Mikulencak stopped on the back stretch erased his lead. On green, Green got away but Maupin gave him a look low coming off turn four to the white flag. Green was able to [Read More]

Whiteaker wins a wild one

By J.M. Hallas  PLEASANTON, Texas (April 24) – Steve Whiteaker won a wild one Saturday at I-37 Speedway, charging from the back of the IMCA Modified field to the front after an early spin. Seventeen cars took the green for the 20-lap feature with Raymond McSpadden from the outside row first into turn one to lead chased by Ryan Doyon, Whiteaker, Cody Tidwell and Dillon Tindall. Whiteaker got second from Doyon and was trying the high side when he made a rare mistake, looping it in turn four. While a bad break for Whiteaker, it was a good break for fans watching him charge his way back through the field. On the restart, it was Tindall getting too high in turn four and falling back in the pack while Doyon was looking low on McSpadden for the lead. Doyon got past to lead lap five with Trevor Egbert taking third from Jared Maupin. Egbert then took second from McSpadden, while Whiteaker was already back to sixth taking the spot from Talon Minten.
