Kirby is convincing in IMCA All Star win at Kennedale

KENNEDALE, Texas (May 27, 2023) – Brenda Kirby wasn’t sure who was starting where behind her, but she made sure everyone finished behind her in Saturday night’s All Star Shootout Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event. The Arizona visitor started on the pole for the headline feature at Kennedale Speedway Park and chased Californian Troy Morris III the first 10 times around the track before taking the front spot for good. She’d hold off Jake Upchurch and Chad Melton after a restart with seven laps left, earning $1,000 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility for her first win of the season. “We weren’t even sure we were going to make the main,” the speedster from New River said, after getting into the wall while running second to Morris in their heat race. “We worked on the car right up to the end of the Stock Car feature. I watched the last five laps of the SportMod feature, went back and made some changes.” “I’m not even sure I saw the lineup. I didn’t know [Read More]

Everything is right for White in IMCA Lone Star Tour opener at Kennedale

KENNEDALE, Texas (March 4) – When Paul White was asked last fall if he’d be interested in driving an IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, his answer, of course, was a resounding “Sure!” On Saturday, the questions he was answering were all about his first win in the class, on opening night of the Sunoco Race Fuels Lone Star Tour presented by Sniper Speed at Kennedale Speedway Park. “That was my first time in a Stock Car. It wasn’t a bad night to get my first win,” White said after leading the last half of the 30-lapper and taking the $1,000 checkers. “I was just tickled about it.” He’d started 11th and passed Shelby Williams for the lead following a restart at midway. White had raced Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars and most recently a Smiley’s Racing Products IMCA Southern SportMod.  “My car owners P.J. Kingrey and Adam Schwartz talked me into this,” said White, who didn’t need much convincing to saddle up in the new class. “They asked if they sold their factory stock [Read More]

Gould brings broom to Kennedale for Spring Kick Off sweep

KENNEDALE, Texas (Feb. 24-25, 2023) – William Gould brought the broom to Kennedale Speedway Park’s season-opening Spring Kick Off.  The defending GRT Race Cars South Central Region, Texas State and track champion started the weekend with Friday’s $1,000 Friesen Performance IMCA Modified checkers. Looking to complete the sweep on Saturday, he paced the field back to green following a late caution with familiar foes Jake Upchurch and Jacob Pirkle lined up right behind. “I had led every lap from the pole but that caution turned the race into a dash for cash, with two of the same fast guys I raced here with last season,” Gould said. “It was good to be able to hold on for the win. The track is always good, there’s always at least two lanes, and it was fast.” That win was also good for $1,000 and was Gould’s career 181st, tying him for 12th all-time in the division with Cory Sample.  He ran his own Kerry Fryar Motorsports Gould Chassis for the first this season at KSP, after shaking down [Read More]
