Marolf leads IMCA Late Model finish at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (July 1, 2023) – Despite lingering sprinkles Saturday afternoon, the racing program went on as scheduled at the Maquoketa Speedway and six IMCA feature events were held in a swiftly run program which saw the final checkered flag of the night wave at 9:30 p.m. The night kicked off with the conclusion of the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified main event halted due to weather a week ago with one lap in the books. The rescheduled feature went off very quickly with Charlie Mohr picking up his second consecutive win. Mohr held off Mark Schulte and Ray Cox Jr. in scoring the 20-lap victory. Garnhart wins nailbiter at Maquoketa before rain arrives

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 24, 2023) – Amhof Trucking of Eldridge hosted on-track action Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway. The racing took place under the threat of an approaching storm so the program was moved along as quickly as possible. The IMCA Sunoco Late Models once again provided fans with a thrilling finish. As the winds began to whip around the fairgrounds, the Late Models were battling for position all the way through their 16-car field. Race leader Dalton Simonsen took the white flag with what appeared to be a good enough lead that would allow him to score the win. Bryce Garnhart, however, had different ideas as he took his number 3 ride to the inside of Simonsen as the two raced down the back chute, setting up a charge to the finish off turn four which would net a feature win for Garnhart by less than two feet. Duffy tops thriller, Mohr wins first at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 17, 2023) – Maquoketa Speedway hosted Oly’s Garage Night at the races on Saturday night. Beautiful weather and a very fast tacky track provided for an action-packed night of stock car racing. The headliner of the night featured the return of the IMCA Sunoco Late Models and a field of 16 cars took the green flag for a 25-lap feature that went flag to flag. Logan Duffy took the lead from pole sitter Brandon Loos and went on to build a comfortable advantage. As the laps wound down, the lead pack swelled to three as Bryce Garnhart and Dalton Simonsen joined Duffy. Both Simonsen and Garnhart were scored as leaders late in the race. Blume, Bahrs, LeBarge add names to Maquoketa Speedway winners list

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (June 3, 2023) – Maquoketa Speedway hosted the fifth night of the 2023 season Saturday on an a very warm night for early June. The racing action was outstanding with lots of close finishes on a very racy ¼-mile track. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds saw a first-time winner for the 2023 season make his way to victory lane. Austin Blume drove a perfect race riding the extreme high groove besting a strong field. Blume took command early from his second row start and led the 20-lap main for 18 laps in the race that went caution-free. Jeff Larson advanced from the fourth row to take second ahead of Ryan Duhme. Jason Bahrs also scored his first win of the season at Maquoketa topping the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Bahrs took advantage of a front row start and led the race flag to flag in scoring the win ahead of Jerry Miles and Chase Zaruba. Duhme dominates IMCA Modifieds at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 27, 2023) – The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature belonged to Ryan Duhme Saturday night at Maquoketa Speedway. Duhme took over the top spot from Brandon Jewell and went on to record the 20-lap feature win. Jason Schueller followed Jewell across the finish line in third. Jerry Miles drove to the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature win, taking over the top spot following an incident on the 10th lap that saw the two front runners sail off of turn two and forced to restart from the rear. Miles took over the race lead and took the checkers ahead of Justin Kay and Jacob Ellithorpe. Maquoketa Speedway hosts 108 race teams

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 20, 2023) – Saturday produced perfect weather for racing at the quarter-mile Maquoketa Speedway. The racers responded with 108 teams taking part in the action and fans responded by coming out in large numbers to enjoy the racing. The IMCA Sunoco Late Models saw a nice field of 16 drivers take the green for their feature event. Andy Nezworski extended his Maquoketa Speedway winning streak to four dating back to last year’s Jackson County fair race. Nezworski led the feature flag to flag but had he made one minor mistake, Steve Johnson would have been the man to beat. Johnson started back in the 10th position and rode the extreme top side to the front and finished the race less than a car length behind Nezworski. Gary Webb, in his 52nd year of racing, finished a very strong third on Saturday night. Ellithorpe throws slider to win thriller at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (May 13, 2023) – Saturday was another one of those race days the weatherman threatened to throw a curve ball at the plans for a night of racing at Maquoketa Speedway. The threat of wet weather moving in was not realized and racing went on as scheduled. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature provided lots of exciting racing with the final laps run with the win up for grabs. Jerry Miles rode the high side of the quarter mile for the first 13 laps in the lead. A late-race caution set up a two-lap dash to the finish. Jacob Ellithorpe threw a hard slider at Miles in turn one and the 72 of Ellithorpe and the 4 of Miles raced down the back chute wheel-to-wheel coming to the white flag. Nezworski tops IMCA Late Models as Maquoketa Speedway opens season

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (April 29, 2023) – The 2023 racing season got underway on Saturday night under cold and blustery conditions. A hearty group of race fans saw an outstanding field of 139 race car drivers take part in the Kinion Classic Cars season opener at the Maquoketa Speedway. The opening night featured the return of the IMCA Sunoco Late Models to the ¼-mile oval for weekly racing. Nineteen Late Models were on hand and their 25-lap main event was the headliner of the night. Veteran racer Andy Nezworski was fortunate enough to draw the pole for the Kinion Classic Cars main event. Nezworski quickly established himself as the man to beat and led the main flag to flag despite several challenges by pesky Matt Ryan. Ryan challenged several times for the lead but finished second ahead of Jaden Fryer, who advanced all the way from the sixth row. Maquoketa Speedway set to open Saturday

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (April 26, 2023) – The 2023 racing season is set to get underway at Maquoketa Speedway this Saturday, April 29 with the running of the Kinion Classic Cars season opener. Maquoketa Speedway welcomes the return of the Sunoco Late Model division as part of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing program. Late Models will headline the program this Saturday with hot laps taking to the action-packed quarter-mile dirt track at 6 p.m. Maquoketa Speedway is located on the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Maquoketa.

Maquoketa Speedway opening with All Star Night

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (April 11, 2023) – The Maquoketa Speedway is set to host the first race of the 2023 season which will be All Star Night. Darkside Promotions (Tim Current and Ryan Duhme) will be working in conjunction with the Jackson County Fair Board and track manager Bret Sieverstein to present a special event to kick off the new season. Racing will include greatly enhanced purses for all classes in competition on the very quick ¼-mile dirt track, located on the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Maquoketa, on Saturday, April 15. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars chase a $750 check along with a berth in a B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying heat.
