Knutson pockets $500 on RFB Electric Night at the Races.

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 23, 2023) – Eric Knutson was electrifying on RBF Electric Night at the Races Friday at the Karl Auto Group Marshalltown Speedway. Knutson went home $500 richer after winning the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature, starting 11th, taking the lead before midway and never looking back the rest of the 20-lapper. He finished well ahead of last week’s winner Calvin Dhondt who raced from 12th starting, Corey Van Der Wilt, Zach McNeese and John Watson.  Jake McBirnie made it two in a row in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Jay Schmidt won for the second time in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars.  It was Jarrett Franken taking the checkers in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, Josh May took the win for the third consecutive week in the Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites and Kolby Sabin won in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. McBirnie McMasters IMCA Modifieds at MoTown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 16, 2023) – Jake McBirnie pocketed $1,000 for his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature win on Friday, Midwest Liquid Systems Night at the Karl Auto Group Marshalltown Speedway. McBirnie started on the outside front row in the 20-lap Night after the Creek main event and leaped to the immediate lead when the race went green. He would go on to lead every lap on his way to the checkers to capture his first win at the speedway this season along with qualifying eligibility for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational. Joel Rust and Maguire DeJong had a good battle going on behind McBirnie, with Rust winning out for second and DeJong taking third. Tripp Gaylord started 14th and finished fourth, and Paul Nagle completed the top five. Shute repeats, Schmidt gets first Marshalltown win of season

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 9, 2023) – Todd Shute came away with back-to-back wins in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Jay Schmidt got win number one of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars Friday at Marshalltown Speedway. Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts kicked off feature racing with their 15-lap “A” main. Kolby Sabin led from the drop of the green to take his third win of the year.  He was chased most of the way by Terry Bickford who crossed the finish line in second.  However, Bickford was disqualified in the post-race inspection. This handed second spot over to Matt Miller, and Mitchell Bunch was third in a close one at the line. Fourth was Larry Werner and rounding out the top five was Chad Larson. Shute, Olson take Topless wins at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – It was the Dirty 30 Topless Two-Fer presented by Capital Sign Company at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday night so Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Northern SportMods shed their tops for a night of racing topless. The Modified winner was Todd Shute while Kyle Olson went to victory lane in the SportMods.  The IMCA Modifieds presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap ran a 30 lapper. Johnathon Logue started on the pole and jumped to the immediate lead, as Joel Rust who had started on the outside front row, tucked in to run second. Marshalltown fans salute IMCA Modified winner Rust

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 26, 2023) – Racing was back in action at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday night where it was API Solutions Salute to Military Night. Joel Rust took the honors in the IMCA Friesen Performance Modified class.  It was Damon Murty taking the win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car division, and Sam Wieben came home the winner in the IMCA Friesen Performance Northern SportMods.  Sam West took the checkers in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature, Kolby Sabin won the MACH-1 IMCA Sport Compact main event, and it was Jon Padilla topping the STARS Mod Lites by taking the win in the first of a three night run in their Corn Belt Clash series.  Kolby Sabin started on the pole of the 15-lap feature for the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts and led all laps on his way to the checkers. Terry Bickford and Mitchell Bunch chased the leader the entire caution-free race but had to settle for second and third place, respectively. Berry, Jerovetz take midweek checkers at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 16, 2023) – Tom Berry Jr. and Troy Jerovetz both took the IMCA checkers during the Tuesday Race Night in America show at Marshalltown Speedway. The 20-lap feature for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds paid $1,000 to win and 39 cars were whittled down through a “B” main for the 24-car starting field. Berry, already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, started on the pole and led all laps in this one on his way to victory. Todd Shute started sixth and was on Berry’s tail by lap three, then chased him all the rest of the way to finish second. Third place went to 14th place starter, Tim Ward, Cody Laney started 10th and finished fourth, and Johnathon Logue rounded out the top five. Shute scores opening night IMCA Modified win at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 28, 2023) – Marshalltown Speedway sprang back to action on Friday night with their season points opener. A threat of rain was in the forecast but a field of 118 cars and the show they put on won out. The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 20-lap feature gave the fans their money’s worth as Dallon Murty and Todd Shute put on quite a show. Murty started second, and immediately took over the top spot and Shute soon tucked on to Murty’s tail after starting third.  Then the two began the show for the fans as lap after lap, Murty held court on the top of the track and Shute looking under him went at it. It was a relentless battle between the two with Murty managing to keep the upper hand as each lap was scored. Abbey reigns at IMCA Stock Car King of the Highbanks

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 14, 2023) – Jeffrey Abbey can add another title on his already lengthy list of IMCA accomplishments. He’s now king of the King of the Highbanks. Abbey took the checkers in the Friday night main event for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Marshalltown Speedway and took a $5,000 check home to Texas.  He got the rich win, and a guaranteed starting spot in the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational, ahead of Dylan Thornton and Troy Jerovetz. Jim Horejsi, who had looked strong in Thursday qualifying, had started on the outside front row and sprang to the lead when the green flag dropped for the 50-lapper. Feature wins to Ward, Olson and Dhondt as 10 IMCA Stock Cars lock in to King of the Highbanks

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 13, 2023) – Night number one of the $5,000 to win King of the Highbanks for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Marshalltown Speedway is finally in the books, after five years of trying. Weather outs and the pandemic had not allowed even one night of the two-day show to be run but Thursday night, it happened!  Ten Stock Car drivers locked themselves in for their big 50-lap feature Friday night while Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods each ran a full show. The Northern SportMods ran 20 laps for their feature event, with a $500 payday. Tony Olson took command of the race on lap four, quickly moving to the top spot after starting ninth. Logan Anderson and Brayton Carter gave Olson a few challenges but to no avail. Ward rewarded with $1,000 for Marshalltown Frostbuster win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 7, 2023) – Tim Ward, the Arizona native who now calls Harcourt, Iowa home, was the class of the field in Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 25-lap feature during the season opening Frostbuster at Marshalltown Speedway. Ward passed lap one leader Jimmy Gustin on lap two and never looked back. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Ward captured the Frostbuster $1,000 win, finishing well ahead of second running Todd Shute. Gustin held third place, holding back Jeff Aikey and Jake McBirnie. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, The Class Too Tough to Tame, ran a 25-lap, $750 to win main. It was no contest as Tom Berry Jr. jumped to the lead on lap one, after starting sixth.
