Feature wins to Ward, Olson and Dhondt as 10 IMCA Stock Cars lock in to King of the Highbanks

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 13, 2023) – Night number one of the $5,000 to win King of the Highbanks for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Marshalltown Speedway is finally in the books, after five years of trying. Weather outs and the pandemic had not allowed even one night of the two-day show to be run but Thursday night, it happened!  Ten Stock Car drivers locked themselves in for their big 50-lap feature Friday night while Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods each ran a full show. The Northern SportMods ran 20 laps for their feature event, with a $500 payday. Tony Olson took command of the race on lap four, quickly moving to the top spot after starting ninth. Logan Anderson and Brayton Carter gave Olson a few challenges but to no avail. Ward rewarded with $1,000 for Marshalltown Frostbuster win

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 7, 2023) – Tim Ward, the Arizona native who now calls Harcourt, Iowa home, was the class of the field in Friday’s Friesen Performance IMCA Modified 25-lap feature during the season opening Frostbuster at Marshalltown Speedway. Ward passed lap one leader Jimmy Gustin on lap two and never looked back. Already Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligible, Ward captured the Frostbuster $1,000 win, finishing well ahead of second running Todd Shute. Gustin held third place, holding back Jeff Aikey and Jake McBirnie. The IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, The Class Too Tough to Tame, ran a 25-lap, $750 to win main. It was no contest as Tom Berry Jr. jumped to the lead on lap one, after starting sixth. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 6, 2023) – The IMCA Sunoco Stock Car king or queen taking the checkers at Marshalltown Speedway’s April 13 and 14 King of the Highbanks takes home $5,000. Along with that big check and bragging rights, the winner of the finale next Friday night at Marshalltown also earns a guaranteed starting spot in the third annual B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational field. MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (April 4, 2023) – Frostbuster action for four IMCA divisions gets the 2023 season started this week at Marshalltown Speedway and Boone Speedway.  Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $750 to win Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7 at Marshalltown, and Saturday, April 8 at Boone. Feature winners all three nights become eligible to qualify for Fast Shafts or B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitationals. IMCA Modifieds headline Sept. 16-17 World Nationals at Marshalltown

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Sept. 12, 2022) – Two thousand dollars is the top prize for Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds both nights of Marshalltown Speedway’s Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17 World Nationals. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods also race for $1,000 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $500 to win both nights. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and state points will be awarded. Modified winners become eligible to qualify for the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational, Stock Car winners for the B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational. Drivers in all divisions can pre-enter at marshalltownspeedway.com and pit passes are $30. Pit gates open at 5:15 p.m., the grandstand opens at 6 p.m. and racing is at 7:30 p.m. both days. Season championship night at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 26, 2022) – It was North 3rd Avenue Dairy Queen Larry Wollam Memorial and Season Championship night at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday.  Seven classes were in competition that provided a full night of racing action at the High Banks. There were out-of-car introductions of the drivers on the front stretch to allow the fans to show their appreciation to the drivers who entertained them all year long. The first eight in points in each class were locked in and they would start inverted for their feature. The rest of the field was filled in by their finishing order from heats. The first feature to hit the track was the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Their feature went 15 laps and was led from start to finish by Cory Sonner. Ward and Lopez find victory lane at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele  MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 19, 2022) – There was a threat of rain and ominous clouds all around but Marshalltown Speedway avoided the shenanigans and racing went on as usual on Friday night. Karl Kustoms Night at the Races saw Tim Ward win for the first time this year in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds. Steve Meyer made it win number two on the year when he saw the checkers first in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Kaylin Lopez finally put it in victory lane when he won the Friesen Performance  IMCA Northern SportMod feature.  Bradly Graham chalked up his second win of the season in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks and Randy Bryan won his fifth feature in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites. Peterson picks up first Marshalltown win of season

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 15, 2022) – Racing returned to Marshalltown Speedway on Friday night for the Minute Man Printing Presents the Central Iowa Fair Races. Dallon Murty returned to victory lane in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds and Michael Jeannette got his second win in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Travis Peterson saw his first winner’s circle visit in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and Eric Knutson repeated in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Dillon Raffurty took first in the IMCA STARS Mod Lites, and Kolby Sabin won the MACH-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. The Northern SportMods took to the track first for their 20-lap feature. Thursday Dale DeFrance Memorial to feature four IMCA divisions

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 5, 2022) – Four IMCA divisions are on the Thursday night card for the fifth annual Dale DeFrance Memorial at Marshalltown Speedway. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win and $200 to start along with Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility on July 7 while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars run for $750 to win and $155 to start, plus B & B Racing Chassis All-Star Invitational qualifying eligibility. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods run for $600 to win and $150 to start, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 to win and $95 to start.  Feature winners receive certificates from Performance Bodies and a case of oil. Murty scores again, Meyer wins first of season at Marshalltown

By Joyce Eisele MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (July 1, 2022) – It was Capital Sign Company Night at the Races at the Marshalltown Speedway Friday evening and over 130 cars filled the pits for a full night of racing.  Dallon Murty put his Friesen Performance IMCA Modified in victory lane again and it was Steve Meyer going to the winner’s circle in the IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Jenae Gustin got a popular win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and John Watson took the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock victory.  Joe Glick won the IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature and Kolby Sabin had the field covered by a big margin in the IMCA Mach-1 Sport Compacts.
