Rodgers is good as gold at Silver Dollar

By Ben Deatherage CHICO, Calif. (June 28, 2024) – Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods returned to Silver Dollar Speedway for their third visit of the 2024 campaign and Tyler Rodgers returned to victory lane following their Friday night feature. Rodgers took control when the green flag was unleashed. The Chico chauffeur beat Shaun Merritt from the front row. Before too long, Ray Lindeman got around Merritt for second. The caution came out for the first time with two laps scored complete, which tightened up the field.   Lindeman secured second as Rodgers again took off. Mike Ficklin Sr. tried to chase down Lindeman for second but that battle came to a halt with five circuits complete due to another yellow. However, on the restart, as Rodgers and Lindeman checked out, Ficklin was under fire for third as Scott Savell made it around him with seven laps complete. As the race remained green, the field began to spread out.  The race was interrupted one last time with eight trips past the flag stand remaining, after the [Read More]

Rodgers scores impressive Silver Dollar Speedway win

By Ben Deatherage CHICO, Calif. (May 10, 2024) – Under the clear Friday night skies, Silver Dollar Speedway roared to life with the thunderous sound of Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods. The 1/4-mile clay oval, steeped in history, was a sight to behold after nearly two months of anticipation, its surface glistening under the floodlights. Tyler Rodgers wasted no time, immediately taking the lead as the green flag dropped. The hometown hero was in a league of his own, building a substantial lead before being hotly pursued by fellow Chico driver Phil Marino.  The battle for the lead was a thriller, halted by back-to-back red flags, including a six-car pile-up on lap seven on the front straightaway. When racing resumed, Rodgers was speedy, but as the race started to close, Ray Lindeman, from Rio Linda, mounted a late challenge. On multiple occasions, Lindeman caught Rodgers in lapped traffic. But once he got to the back of him, Rodgers slipped past the slower cars. On the final lap, Lindeman tossed the dice one last time. Unfortunately, [Read More]

Reichenbach, Bannister end Speedweek with Silver Dollar wins; Dotson, Nation take titles

By Stephanie Deatherage  CHICO, Calif. (May 8) – Clint Reichenbach and Tyler Bannister won feature events while Ethan Dotson and Jason Nation won championships Saturday night. Reichenbach and Bannister topped IMCA Modified and Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod features at Silver Dollar Speedway while Dotson and Nation wrapped up titles in those respective divisions on the final night of the California IMCA Speedweek presented by Hoppes Motorsports. In the first-ever Speedweek visit to Chico, Troy Foulger pulled away from the rest of the IMCA Modified pack before forced to deal with lapped traffic while Reichenbach delt with a charging Nick DeCarlo in the latter’s bid for the runner-up spot.  A caution on lap 22 bunched the field up for the only time of the main event and Reichenbach again tried to rail around the high side of the leader. Foulger and Reichenbach drag raced to the white flag, with Reichenbach having the advantage at the line. Reichenbach rode his momentum up top to hold off Foulger for his third $1,000 win of Speedweek. Foulger ended the [Read More]
