Wood earns first Oil Capital victory at Southern Oklahoma

(June 26) – With five top five and nine top 10 finishes coming into Saturday’s AmeriFlex/Oil Capital Racing Series IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Danny Wood has been on the verge of getting his first victory. The wait is over. Wood started on the pole and went the distance to win his first career series feature at Ardmore. While Wood was in firm command of the top spot, there was plenty of driver movement behind him. Joe Bob Lee started 10th and worked his way through the field to second but was six seconds behind Wood at the finish. Steven Shebester moved from fifth to third while Joe Wood Jr. came from seventh to fourth. Whit Gastineau finished fifth. Southern Oklahoma beats weather, gets in fast night two of IMCA All Star Shootout

ARDMORE, Okla. (May 27) – A fast-paced All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts program at Southern Oklahoma Speedway ended with Matt Guillaume, Matthew Day and Jeffrey Abbey in victory lane. Hustling to beat bad weather, Guillaume was promoted to the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers after Wesley Veal came up light on the post-race scales. Day was lights out for the second night in a row at Ardmore in winning the Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMod feature and Abbey held Wednesday winner Tommy Fain in check to top the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car main event. Taylor quick to accomplish at Ardmore, tops All Star Shootout opener for IMCA Modifieds

ARDMORE, Okla. (May 26) – When he pulled out of the driveway, Jeff Taylor headed for Southern Oklahoma Speedway hoping he could “accomplish something” during the five-race All Star Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts. He accomplished a lot on opening night at Ardmore, racing from 16th starting to win the IMCA Modified feature and $1,000. One hundred and twenty-five cars, including 57 Modifieds, 38 Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and 30 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, saw action in the Wednesday show. “I knew I had a pretty good car by lap four or five,” said Taylor, who’d made the starting grid by winning his ‘B’ feature. “It was a lot of fun. ARDMORE, Okla. (May 27) – After hosting opening night for the All Star Shootout, Southern Oklahoma Speedway will host night two, too. Grayson County Speedway was scheduled as site of the Thursday show but rain was the early winner at Bells. IMCA Modifieds, Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are back on the track at Ardmore tonight. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6:30 p.m. The All Star Shootout is broadcast by IMCA.TV.

Oklahoma, Texas dates set for IMCA Allstar Shootout

ARDMORE, Okla. – Five nights of racing leading up to Memorial Day will prove memorable for Allstar drivers in three IMCA divisions. The inaugural Allstar Shootout fueled by Fast Shafts features IMCA Modifieds running for $1,000 to win, potential bonuses of $500 to as much as $3,000 and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths May 26-30. Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars both run for $750 to win each night. All five Stock Car features will be All-Star qualifying events. Ward rewarded for IMCA Modified efforts with $3,000 Southern Stampede checkers

ARDMORE, Okla. (March 11) – The race Tim Ward has watched on TV is the race he won Thursday at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Ward charged all the way from 12th starting to win the IMCA Modified main event and $3,000 on opening night of the Southern Stampede. The victory was the first in Oklahoma for the much-traveled Ward and the second of the season for the Arizona native. Already on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot, he was one of 53 Modified and 120 IMCA entries for the season-opening special. “We guessed right on the car,” he said following a 30-lapper interrupted by a single caution. “We had watched this show the last couple years and it looked fun. Southern Oklahoma adjusts Stampede schedule

ARDMORE, Okla. – With wet weather moving into the area Saturday, Southern Oklahoma Speedway will host Southern Stampede shows Thursday and Friday, March 11 and 12. Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying features now see IMCA Modifieds run for $3,000 to win and $300 to start on Thursday and $1,000 to win and $100 to start on Friday. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods both run for $1,750 to win and $175 to start on Thursday and $750 to win and $75 to start on Friday. IMCA opens loyalty bonus to all pre-registered Lone Star Tour drivers

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 9) – Due to the upcoming cancellation of the other stock car tour scheduled the week before the Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour, IMCA will extend the $500 loyalty bonus to all IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers registered to compete in the Lone Star Tour by 5 p.m. CST today (Tuesday). Registered drivers who ran in January at Corpus Christi will be eligible for that bonus. All tour races now pay those registered drivers a minimum of $1,500 to win. The big week of racing starts with the 24th annual Ice Breaker at Abilene Speedway on Feb. 19, followed by opening night of the fourth annual tour at Abilene. ABILENE, Texas – The fourth annual Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars travels to six tracks in Texas and Oklahoma, with a $5,000 check waiting for the champion. Dove goes from IMCA Modified contender to winner at Jordan Page Winter Nationals

ARDMORE, Okla. (Oct. 10) – Going into the Jordan Page Winter Nationals weekend at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Tommy Dove was hoping to qualify for the IMCA Modified main event. Once that goal was accomplished, it took just a handful of laps before the Ardmore driver knew he could win it. Dove, making just his fifth start in the division in a car recently purchased from Tyler Stevens, raced from seventh starting to win the 25-lapper, passing William Gould on his way to the front and holding off another heavy hitter in Josh McGaha to stay there.
