Southern Oklahoma adjusts Stampede schedule

ARDMORE, Okla. – With wet weather moving into the area Saturday, Southern Oklahoma Speedway will host Southern Stampede shows Thursday and Friday, March 11 and 12. Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying features now see IMCA Modifieds run for $3,000 to win and $300 to start on Thursday and $1,000 to win and $100 to start on Friday. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods both run for $1,750 to win and $175 to start on Thursday and $750 to win and $75 to start on Friday. With a 70-plus chance of an inch of rain in the forecast, Saturday’s program has been canceled. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and KMJ Performance Oklahoma State points will be awarded in all three divisions both nights. IMCA opens loyalty bonus to all pre-registered Lone Star Tour drivers

ABILENE, Texas (Feb. 9) – Due to the upcoming cancellation of the other stock car tour scheduled the week before the Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour, IMCA will extend the $500 loyalty bonus to all IMCA Sunoco Stock Car drivers registered to compete in the Lone Star Tour by 5 p.m. CST today (Tuesday). Registered drivers who ran in January at Corpus Christi will be eligible for that bonus. All tour races now pay those registered drivers a minimum of $1,500 to win. The big week of racing starts with the 24th annual Ice Breaker at Abilene Speedway on Feb. 19, followed by opening night of the fourth annual tour at Abilene. ABILENE, Texas – The fourth annual Sniper Speed Lone Star Tour for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars travels to six tracks in Texas and Oklahoma, with a $5,000 check waiting for the champion. Both IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and IMCA Modifieds run for $1,000 to win at Abilene Speedway on Saturday, Feb. 20, the second show of the Ice Breaker weekend; Sunday, Feb. 21 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco; Monday, Feb. 22 at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige; Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Grayson County Speedway in Bells; Friday, Feb. 26 at Kennedale Speedway Park; and Saturday, Feb. 27 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway in Ardmore. Dove goes from IMCA Modified contender to winner at Jordan Page Winter Nationals

ARDMORE, Okla. (Oct. 10) – Going into the Jordan Page Winter Nationals weekend at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, Tommy Dove was hoping to qualify for the IMCA Modified main event. Once that goal was accomplished, it took just a handful of laps before the Ardmore driver knew he could win it. Dove, making just his fifth start in the division in a car recently purchased from Tyler Stevens, raced from seventh starting to win the 25-lapper, passing William Gould on his way to the front and holding off another heavy hitter in Josh McGaha to stay there. Three IMCA divisions run at Jordan Page Winter Nationals

ARDMORE, Okla. – IMCA Modifieds, Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are all on the ticket for Southern Oklahoma Speedway’s Oct. 9 and 10 Jordan Page Winter Nationals. Modifieds run for $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start their 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Southern SportMods run for $1,500 to win and a minimum of $200 to start, Stock Cars for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $175 at the 16th annual event. Pre-entry for all three divisions is $75 until Oct. 8 or $100 after that date. An open practice is Thursday, Oct. 8. Pit passes are $15. Friday qualifying locks top in the top 12 drivers with last-chance racing and main events on Saturday. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 6-12 on Friday and $20 for adults and $15 for kids ages 6-12 on Saturday. Gould inherits opening night Red River Tour win

ARDMORE, Okla. (July 1) – It’s not the way he wanted to win but William Gould went home with the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers from Wednesday’s Red River South Tour opener at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Gould was third across the stripe but inherited the win when Tyler Stevens and Chaz Baca were both disqualified in post-race tech for front suspension violations. Gould had gotten caught up in a fender bender in his heat race, won his ‘B’ feature and started the main event from 11th. “This was the first time we’ve even had a good run in the tour. It seems like we’ve always had motor problems or something before,” said Gould, who changed two flats on the trailer and got home about the time the sun was coming up the next morning. “The top of the track stayed dominant. ARDMORE, Okla. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths each night of the Lone Star Super Gas Red River Tour South presented by Smiley’s Racing Products. Opening night for the third annual tour is Wednesday, July 1 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, with events to follow July 2 at Grayson County Speedway, July 3 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway, July 4 at Kennedale Speedway Park and July 5 at Boyd Raceway. Whitwell wires Corona Kicker foes at Southern Oklahoma

ARDMORE, Okla. (May 1-2) – After winning his heat race, R.C. Whitwell knew he’d be going into Friday’s Corona Kicker IMCA Modified feature with a fast car. And after leading start to finish of the main event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, the Tucson, Ariz., driver collected a $1,250 check for his latest Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory. Fifty-six Modifieds contested at the opening night show in Ardmore and nine states were represented in the evening’s headline event. Three IMCA divisions in action this weekend at Southern Oklahoma

ARDMORE, Okla. – Three IMCA divisions see action this weekend at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will be among the IMCA Modified contenders on the Friday, May 1 opening night card while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods both run Saturday, May 2. In compliance with CDC and local health guidelines, both the number of entries and the number of spectator tickets sold will be limited each night. Whitehead stampedes to first IMCA Modified victory

ARDMORE, Okla. (March 12) – Justin Whitehead started his rookie season hoping to get a single IMCA Modified feature win. It took the Texarkana, Texas, driver just two starts to accomplish that goal. The runner-up on March 7 at Ardmore when Chris Bragg raced to career win number 101 in the division, Whitehead led the last 22 laps in winning the Southern Stampede main event, and $2,000, Thursday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway.
