Three IMCA divisions run at Jordan Page Winter Nationals

ARDMORE, Okla. – IMCA Modifieds, Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are all on the ticket for Southern Oklahoma Speedway’s Oct. 9 and 10 Jordan Page Winter Nationals. Modifieds run for $2,500 to win and a minimum of $300 to start their 2021 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier. Southern SportMods run for $1,500 to win and a minimum of $200 to start, Stock Cars for $1,000 to win and a minimum of $175 at the 16th annual event. Pre-entry for all three divisions is $75 until Oct. 8 or $100 after that date. An open practice is Thursday, Oct. 8. Pit passes are $15. Friday qualifying locks top in the top 12 drivers with last-chance racing and main events on Saturday. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids ages 6-12 on Friday and $20 for adults and $15 for kids ages 6-12 on Saturday. Gould inherits opening night Red River Tour win

ARDMORE, Okla. (July 1) – It’s not the way he wanted to win but William Gould went home with the $1,000 IMCA Modified checkers from Wednesday’s Red River South Tour opener at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Gould was third across the stripe but inherited the win when Tyler Stevens and Chaz Baca were both disqualified in post-race tech for front suspension violations. Gould had gotten caught up in a fender bender in his heat race, won his ‘B’ feature and started the main event from 11th. “This was the first time we’ve even had a good run in the tour. It seems like we’ve always had motor problems or something before,” said Gould, who changed two flats on the trailer and got home about the time the sun was coming up the next morning. “The top of the track stayed dominant. IMCA Modifieds race for $1K at Red River Tour shows

ARDMORE, Okla. – IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win and Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berths each night of the Lone Star Super Gas Red River Tour South presented by Smiley’s Racing Products. Opening night for the third annual tour is Wednesday, July 1 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, with events to follow July 2 at Grayson County Speedway, July 3 at Heart O’ Texas Speedway, July 4 at Kennedale Speedway Park and July 5 at Boyd Raceway. Ken Schrader will follow the tour, which has no entry fee any night. Mufflers are required at KSP and at Boyd. The July 3 Baby Blue Harcrow Memorial for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars at Heart O’ Texas pays $1,500 to win and $100 to start. Stocks also race opening night at Ardmore and at Kennedale. Whitwell wires Corona Kicker foes at Southern Oklahoma

ARDMORE, Okla. (May 1-2) – After winning his heat race, R.C. Whitwell knew he’d be going into Friday’s Corona Kicker IMCA Modified feature with a fast car. And after leading start to finish of the main event at Southern Oklahoma Speedway, the Tucson, Ariz., driver collected a $1,250 check for his latest Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying victory. Fifty-six Modifieds contested at the opening night show in Ardmore and nine states were represented in the evening’s headline event. Pole starter Whitwell ran the bottom most of the 20-lapper, going to the top in the second set of turns to work through lapped traffic and outrunning Ethan Braaksma to the checkers. “The car was pretty decent in the heat race handling-wise. Three IMCA divisions in action this weekend at Southern Oklahoma

ARDMORE, Okla. – Three IMCA divisions see action this weekend at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will be among the IMCA Modified contenders on the Friday, May 1 opening night card while IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods both run Saturday, May 2. In compliance with CDC and local health guidelines, both the number of entries and the number of spectator tickets sold will be limited each night. Pit passes are $35 for all divisions; pit passes and spectator tickets are only available online, through MyRacePass and accessible through the track website. Drivers must print off pit pass vouchers and exchange it for a wrist band at the pit gate. Similarly, anyone who buys spectator ticket(s) must provide a voucher and photo ID for grandstand entry. Whitehead stampedes to first IMCA Modified victory

ARDMORE, Okla. (March 12) – Justin Whitehead started his rookie season hoping to get a single IMCA Modified feature win. It took the Texarkana, Texas, driver just two starts to accomplish that goal. The runner-up on March 7 at Ardmore when Chris Bragg raced to career win number 101 in the division, Whitehead led the last 22 laps in winning the Southern Stampede main event, and $2,000, Thursday night at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. ARDMORE, Okla. – IMCA Modifieds chase big checks and berths on the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot each night of the season opening Southern Stampede March 12-14 at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Modifieds run for $2,000 to win and $200 to start on Thursday, $1,000 to win and $100 to start on Friday and $3,000 to win and $300 to start on Saturday at Ardmore. Davis, Egbert, Williams clinch Red River Tour crowns

(May 31) – The finale to the second edition of the Lone Star Super Gas IMCA Red River Modified Tour presented by Smiley’s Racing Products provided a lot of action as the racing events unfolded on the Southern Oklahoma Speedway. Feature winners on the fifth and final night of the tour were Jake O’Neil, IMCA Modifieds; Trevor Egbert, Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods; and Jeffrey Abbey, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Champions were Cory Davis in the Modifieds, Egbert and Gary Williams, Stock Cars. Throughout the Modified pack, three- and four-wide racing was common as the racers fought for position. Up front, Travis Johnson and O’Neil raced around the high side of the speedway and O’Neil attempted to find a way around Johnson. 2019 IMCA Red River Modified Tour set to start this weekend, May 25-31

By Jackson Braun KENNEDALE, Texas – Pre-registration has officially closed for the 2019 edition of the IMCA Red River Modified Tour. If the quality of racing from last year is any indication, everyone is in for a treat during the tour’s second running. Eighty-one IMCA Modifieds have registered, along with 62 Smiley’s Racing Products Southern SportMods and 19 IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars. Inaugural champion Chris Elliott from Abilene looks to defend his Modified crown as the stacked field of racers will try to figure out how to put together a championship run. Hughes tops two IMCA Modified features, Thornton collects final Stampede checkers

ARDMORE, Okla. (March 7-9) – Jason Hughes was a double winner before Ricky Thornton Jr. made his way to victory lane at Southern Oklahoma Speedway’s Southern Stampede special. New Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational candidate Hughes was the $2,000 IMCA Modified winner on Thursday and the $1,000 winner on Friday. Thornton paced Saturday’s $3,000 to win event. The IMCA car count for the second annual Stampede topped 100 and included 51 Modifieds. Hughes had to reel in Jared Hoefelman for the opening night lead, then won ahead of Thornton and defending IMCA Red River Tour champion Chris Elliott. The Sooner State speedster led every circuit on Friday. Thornton repeated as runner-up while Rodney Sanders rounded out the podium finishers. “I’m happy with the weekend.
